Im praying you put a grommet on the power wire where it goes through the firewall at the top as well!

A good mechanic shop will have a smoke machine for checking vacuum leaks. They could use it to possibly find a gap where your water is coming from or there are lots of DIY smoke machine videos.

I sympathize, and shame on you VAG - frankly that is ridiculous. The thing with water is that once you plug one hole it usually accumulates elsewhere and leads to all sort of problems you really don't want. It rains a lot in the UK so it would be a good idea to investigate it as a priority. You're a thorough guy, I'm sure you will get it. Thanks for sharing and especially for your time!

The pre-facelift Octavia A7 had a factory defect with the windshield seal on the side of the trim molding. The second most common cause was clogged drainage holes in the engine bay, which led to water accumulation and subsequent leakage into the cabin through the air conditioning system intake.

I’d also check to make sure the drain in the ac isn’t clogged.

So hyped for this build! Im doing a very similar build in my car, but i will be welding speaker enclosures in the doors instead of IB. But also 2 way active with wideband instead of tweeter. Thanks for all the tips and inspirations! Much love from Sweden😊

Wish I could see the enclosures you're doing in the doors, I was thinking about doing enclosures in my kicks but would seriously have to figure out how to get the air space I need in the tiny space. I don't really want to be cutting the car up.

Used that absolutely hardcore grommet in an area where both sides are “wet”, and complaining about moisture in the car and using NO GROMMET where it enters the Interieur, is just my sense of humor… 😂😂🙈😝🤭

Sick badge on the trunk!!! Thanks for another rad video.

I have the same one on the front as well😉

The aircon inlet right next to the grommet you used for the power wire is where you want to focus for water ingress. The seal between the body and the box goes bad. It just has the two T-25 screws holding it in

I always look forward to your vids and build log. There is a realism for us DIY'rs. As far as the leak is concerned. It often isnt where we th8nk it m8ght be coming from. When i had the 3 series, i spent so much time tracing the leak in the passenger footwell. Turns out that the water was accumulating in the outer rubber door seals. Over time it would build up and leak under the carpet. I eventually cut a small chunk out on both sides, which let the water dtain out immediately. On my current car, which is a Saab 9-3 convertible the culprit is normally the housing for one of the filters under rhe scuttle panel. It seems as though every model of car has some point where it leaks water into the cabin. I think there will be plenty of videos or forum discussions that might discuss this very problem for your car.

Yes, there are probably 5 different points of entry. I will find it eventually😉

Where you blocked off under the foam, maybe run a hole or two so the water doesn't get trapped and sit there.
@sainath8710Күн бұрын
Check out the AC water drain pipe, sometimes it can cause the leak.
@RAW-CAtКүн бұрын
My understanding that it's on the driver side. But will check anyways🫡

In my experience in the automotive service industry, most of the car’s water leaks will be from heater coil coolant leaks, AC drain water leaks, and dew to firewall corrosion water leaks. The majority of the water leak will be from the AC drain water leak.

I would get under the car and pull that skid plate. You don't wanna be trapping water or moisture between those panels. Ramps are cheap if you don't have a floor, plus good for oil changes. Any plans to review the EZ-DSP remote?

Can be water from the heat inside radiator.

I ran my power wire, usb input wire and Audison drc today in my VW. I feel I am kinda doing the build along with you.

BACDAFUCUP!! BACDAFUCUP!! 🤣🤣🤣 I'm sorry ONYX is the last thing in the world I would guess you would be playing. How bad am I??? I need a video of you driving along singing to that album 🤣🤣🤣

That album is one of my favorites🙃 I don't like the exaggerated muddy 50-60Hz old school beat, but the flows are epic😎

Have the same charger/supply in black, VAG cars pull so much current when not on its crazy.

Tape up all those holes, but leave room for an air nozzle from an air compressor. Get a helper and try to find where the water is coming into that area. You might be able to do it yourself if you have a smoke generator and see where it comes out.

In my car rain/ washing water rides along the factory wirring main loom which enters into the cabin through firewall . And it secretly dripped down behing the AC blower onto carpet and flooded passenger foot well . Took months to trace . Sealed while windsheild and roof rails .
@thomaspi-w5iКүн бұрын
I wouldn't cover these holes. I think this is just the drainage that makes sure to distribute the moisture that comes form the condensation of the windshild. This is just because of the weather in the UK. If you cover it you will have a big puddle of water and potentially rost. Just heat up your car while you drive then open your windows to get the moisture out of your car :)

If you look @ where you foam is wet from your water leak, its pink. Could it be your heater matrix under dash as vw coolant is that colour pink. Start the car & let it get to temperature & put heater on & see if floor gets wet, also check your coolant level to see if it stays the same level. Just a thought.

Would you be down to do a super budget dsp/amp shout-out like you did with the midranges. I brought a sennuopu x680 dsp/amp and couldn't find anything online about reviews and wanna know how it compares to something more proper and if a head unit is better
@shadowmixx4Күн бұрын
The water is most likely coming from the windshield
@munchy_coolКүн бұрын
I would take a water hose and just drench the windshield and see if the water comes out those holes/channels.
@RAW-CAtКүн бұрын
I will do that when it will be warmer👍

I'm a big fan for installing amps under seats. I've got a 4 channel under the driver's and a 4 channel mini amp along with a mono amp under the passenger seat. Vehicles are getting less and less storage friendly and honestly the little amount of space under seats are not much useful for anything else other than amps/ dsp.
@RAW-CAtКүн бұрын
This car is "taller" than the Insignia. In that one I couldn't fit even a DSP under the seat. I can understand how that is a great location.
@karlkiernan6863Күн бұрын
If your car has AC the condensor has a drain that can get blocked.

Based on my research, the grain is on the driver side🤷

I need the breaker for constantly disconnecting the gear. Last one I had was fine for a couple of years and would be still ok for more. These are heavily being used in camper vans.
