About the same time, while they were shooting the Matrix in Australia, I was working for the Police and Community Youth Club, we were doing a fundraiser for disadvantaged youth called Sneaker Day. I phoned Fox studios and asked to speak to Keanu. Surprisingly, they put me through. I told him we were looking for celebrity sneakers to frame and auction off for charity. He took his shoes off, signed them and posted them off to me. He is an amazing and caring man.

I once was walking in the mall and from faraway saw an East Asian foreigner, an old man, suddenly fall from the top of the escalator down to midway due to a misstep probably due to his luggage (i'm not sure as I was far away), and one of my countrymen, a woman, who was just about to ride the escalator, shouted "Help! Because I wanted a good spot, I was there super early. A girl in the line with me was just sooo happy, so I asked her why. She said that it had been her birthday the day before and she was in a music store picking out a guitar. Keanu Reeves was ALSO in that same store and actually BOUGHT the guitar and all the accessories for her AND gave her a ticket for the show the next day. This is the man that is my hero!!! My son met him in a NY bar... as a Marine back from the combat his group were shipped there in dress uniform, supposedly to see the city. Reeves offered to buy him any drink 🍷 my son wanted. Of course a guy back from the desert goes high shelf. 😏 He said the guy was just a down to earth nice person.

Reeves doesn't think he is above anyone else. He considers himself a normal person just out doing what people do. It is my impression that he doesn't quite buy into all the fame / celebrity thing and stays very humble. I have always enjoyed that he likes to keep his life private and just live it without announcing every little thing when it happens. Was refreshing 30 years ago and it still is.

I've always admired him. When he is on the screen, you cannot take your eyes off of him. He has that persona, that presence that just draws you in. I met Keanu about 16 years ago at the premier of the Matrix movie in NYC. I worked at the movie theater as a cleaner and server. The entire night, I saw all the stars in the movie come and go without any of them looking at me or saying hello to me, perhaps because of my color and the cheap uniform I had on. For 16 years, I have never forgotten the event that will follow the first few hours after I begun my shift at work that evening. Keanu walked up to me and asked me how I was doing!! I said to myself "are you really talking to me?" Believe it or not, he actually came up to me and showed compassion and care. That was the last thing I ever expected anyone to do that evening. He proceed to ask me about my job and where I come from. And I told him I was from Ghana and have been working at the theater for about a year. He chatted with me for about 5 mins but it felt like forever. He then gave me a hug I will never forget. He is truly a good human being. I don't usually leave comments on YT but this is to confirm this video. Keanu is good.
