Additional info for those who are not well-versed in Tagalog: 0:32 There was a time where Filipinos made slangs of two-syllable words by swapping the order. In this case, "lods" was actually "lodi", which is "idol" (The word "idol" for Tagalog only means "role model". Never as the other "idol" unless you're speaking fully in English). As someone who lived through this trend, it was annoying and unbearable. Seems like "lodi" was the only one that survived when the trend died down. 1:03 "ina" is being used as a swear here because the word being used here is a shortened version of the curse word "putangina" which, when directly translated, means "whore (puta) mother (ina)". "ng" is usually added as a suffix to indicate that the word is an adjective, which is in this case, is describing the "ina" as a "puta".

Just want some clarification about the first one, that isn't the swapping two syllables, like "nosi" for "sino" (meaning "who"), but reading the letters in the reverse order, like "sakalam" for "malakas" (meaning "strong"). Switching syllables is a thing from the older generations, which is apparent in the song "Nosi Ba Lasi", and it is still used by some people. Meanwhile, reading the letters in reverse order is something of a recent thing AFAIK and is still widely used by a lot of the newer gen, tho not as much as it was during it's peak years. (And yes, I do feel cringe when people use it in quick succession)

As someone who was parting of mid 2000s texting culture in the Philippines, I *have* encountered actual Jejemons in the wild... Holy shit their text was so hard to read xD Jejemon is more like a written language than a spoken one tbh. Lots of creativity in that era, in fact it's been theorized that the "arigathanks gozaimuch" Japanglish stuff was actually made by Filipinos. I mean the gays here still say "hanash" when referring to gossip, coincidentally the JP word for "talk" (as in convo talk) is "hanashi". Also the etymology for "lods": -In the 80s it was a trend to either swap syllables (power became "werpa"... The change of spelling is coz that's how we pronounce it) or reverse the spelling of words. (malakas (strong) -> sakalam) -A few years ago due to an 80s actor turned politician that trend came back for a bit, and "lodi" (reversed "idol") became a thing. -"Idol" has been part of Filipino lingo for decades, here it means "cool person you look up to," with more emphasis on the "cool person". -It was also an 80s trend to replace the last letters of these "remixed" words and put S's on them. Example: idol -> lodi -> lods. There's actually an even more "evolved" version of this, "lodicakes". Why the -cake? Honestly idk xD The "ina" part is simple, it's the same way people say "motherf-" instead of saying the whole thing. Best part of this clip for me is how Octavio trolled Hakka into *HAPPILY* saying his peen is smol lmfao.

Just a nitpick. In tagalog, when someone adds "ang" in an adjective/descriving word, it can either be "very" or "so." In this case, What Hakka said can be "Octavio, you're so handsome." Or "Octavio, you're very handsome."

for some clarification: "Tagalog" is the dominant language that makes up the "Filipino" language. Just like english, the Filipino language (outside the tagalog sections) has many words that was borrowed from people we interacted with in our history. Like, English, Chinese, and of course, Spanish. (I'm still looking for japanese-based words in the ph dictionary. halp.) The infamous PH swear, "p*tang ina", at least the first word, is lifted from spanish. I hear "Henyo" gets thrown around a lot, that's Filipino for "Genio" in spanish. both meaning Genius. (insert kettle noise)
