DEVICE UPGRADE
RESHETNEV engineers have designed a new Onboard Control Subsystem (OCS) control unit for the advanced EXPRESS-RV communication satellite. The new control unit will additionally function as onboard computer. Combining satellite control and computing functions in one device will allow making satellites lighter and speed up manufacturing loop.
DOUBLE EFFECT
Due to optimization of the cutting tools set and changing machining sequence along with cutting modes RESHETNEV experts managed accelerate the MARATHON solar array mechanism manufacturing. With the optimized approach, the mechanism production will only take 13 instead of 24 hours. It is also going to be applied in the small satellites mass production line.
STRIVING AFTER PERFECTION
RESHETNEV experts are also looking for the ways of improving the process of production passive data relay equipment components; they are developing a technology of manufacturing the components for adjustment of device radio performance. The components include a set of screws with thread pitch of 0.4 mm and a plate with screw eyes imitating the device housing. Their use minimizes the amount of snagging when screws are tightened and loosened, and ensures good contact between the two elements of the adjustment pair.
FAST, ACCURATE, ROBUST
RESHETNEV adopted a method of manufacturing copper alloy flexible waveguide sections using workpieces acquired by pulsed laser welding. The new approach makes welded seams as robust as the main material. It will also allow significantly reducing the production time and lower the cost of waveguide products, while maintaining the products performances at the level of the best world analogues.
NATIONAL STANDARD BY RESHETNEV
The company experts have developed a new National Standard for Satellite Charging Resistance. Charging occurs due to space ionizing radiation, solar activity and can result in malfunctions and destruction of on-board equipment. Standardization will allow to form a consistent quality policy for aerospace companies and cooperative organizations involved in the implementation of the RESHETNEV company projects.
