2:48:00 Here is a moment that is completely forgotten in this World Series, is that the Mets, in the bottom of the 9th inning in game 6 of a tied game, now have runners on first and second with no outs, so you would expect the next Mets hitter (Howard Johnson) to bunt and move the runners over. HOWEVER, Davey Johnson (Mets manager) does NOT call for the bunt. He just let Johnson do whatever he wanted. Howard Johnson was still not considered a power hitter in 1986. 1987 was the first season that he showed he had power. Had the Mets lost this game 6, Davey Johnson would have gotten DESTROYED by the press. It would have put him right up there with Mets management decision to start Seaver in game 6 of the 1973 World Series on 3-days-rest with the Mets up 3-2 in the World Series over Oakland, instead of starting Seaver for the possible game 7 on full-rest had the Mets lost game 6

My dad, a life long boston redsox fan, talks about this game the same way he does 9/11

Did you get the radio call from Classic Sports Rewind? That copy was out of sync when I tried to do the same thing. Edit: this is a different copy

I had traded for some CD’s with the recording many years ago. I tried my best to sync everything. At worst things might drift a half second or so but I feel like I did a decent job 😁

@@metsclassics same when I tried to sync some old radio calls. Fortunately now with everything digital, I sync modern games to their respective radio calls and they’re frame perfect.

@@RyansColoradoRailProductions yeah, you realize how the slight change in speed of the old cassette decks make a huge difference on a 3 hour video recording. No more!

I'm interested in the radio broadcast source. I have a better sounding version that comes from a 1994 WFAN replay during the strike but it doesn't have much postgame recap. This sounds like it was recorded from a considerable distance from NY since only WHN could carry the Mets version of the series and all the affiliate stations on the network were forbidden from doing so, so as not to interfere with CBS's broadcast. Does your recording have any further postgame not included on this synch?

Thanks for checking it out! I don’t recall the source. I believe I purchased the CDs off eBay at least 15 years ago. I’ve looked through old emails, but can’t find the details of the CDs.
