Thank you Naftali for the upbeat report. We leave soon to spend 3 months in Israel. If lightning strikes us and we can afford a place there we're open to Aliyah. I'm so proud of the young people of Israel. Gen Z of America is a disaster, more delicate than a soap bubble, no work ethic and incapable of independent critical thought. The young of Israel are indeed our fuel. Am Yisrael Hai. On a more somber note relating to October 7th I know that America and Israel have very different views regarding private civilian gun ownership. In the hindsight of October 7th I can't help but think that outcome might've been much more in our favor if reponsible adults with military experience would've been armed if they had the choice. As an American who supports Israel, I think Mr. Benntett is a little bit giving too much credit to the "3 fuels". 1. Ultra-orthodox populations are being taught from a very young age to dedicate their lives to prayers and religious studies (and against work or army service) so I don't see the vast majority of them change their beliefs. 2. The Arab community by large sees Israel as not an Ideal country since it is defined as a Jewish state. 3. I'm not so sure that it's in Israel's best interest to make so many Jews around the world make an Aliyah since these are the strongest forces that fight antisemitism in other countries. Unfortunately, Israel is not a big Nation like the U.S., China, Russia, or even the big countries in Europe... Israel needs the support of other countries for its existence and security. A better job needs to be done to change public opinion concerning Israel... Western countries need to understand that Israel is fighting the same enemies of their own- enemies of the free world! So they need to support Israel to protect itself.

They don't have to be recruited to the army; they can also go for national service or volunteer in public organizations, but they are not even willing to do that.

If the army would create separate male only units, allow for observance of Jewish law (in a way that they would find acceptable) and provide kosher food to Haredi standards, there would be less resistance to enlistment. If the army is not willing to accommodate their religious needs, it is probably because the army doesn't really need them. Even still about 10% of Haredi men do enlist in the army and volunteerism in the Haredi sector is the highest in Israel - maybe the government should find a way to formalize their volunteerism in to the national service program.
