I am a widow living alone, 78 yo. 5 years ago I was spending $100 a month for just groceries for me. It is now $200 a month with very little red meat. I buy the larger pkg of meat and repackage and freeze in single servings. I usually get 4 meals from a pkg of ground beef, 2 two suppers of hamburger sandwich and with the remaining 1/2 lb I make spaghetti or some other hamburger based meals. I am very frugal have had to be all my life. But prices are going up so quickly. I only eat twice a day. Can't figure out a cheaper way except to give up eating, I am not ready to go that way.

Do you have access to a food pantry? If you're in the US, you can dial 211 in most areas. At that number, you can ask about what resources you qualify for. Food Share is another organization I think you can get fresh produce from. There are also Lutheran Social Services and Catholic Social Services. Don't think of it as charity. You have worked hard your whole life. Take care.

I’m in East Tn and barely was missed by the hurricane. When I say barely I mean within 100 miles of me. The devastation is unbelievable. We’ve never seen anything like this. It was technically a tropical depression when it hit but it got stuck between the Cumberland mountains and the Appalachian mountains and THAT is what caused the devastation. My husband works for an environmental cleanup company and he will likely be all over the place doing what has to be done. He’s already been doing some river clean and the hurricane damage in Florida that part of his crew is already dispatched at.

The trick with tortillas is using the right fat. I used recipes with oil for years and the dough was difficult to work with and never turned out great. I switched to using butter and allowing 10-20 minutes of rest time and they are amazing. They roll out beautifully, puff up during cooking and are flexible and thin and taste SO GOOD.

Bless your heart for making this video in the middle of all the wedding chaos❤I think it’s more than enough that you actually planned and executed your monthly grocery haul at all! I have to say though, I had to take a lot of deep breaths watching this because I don’t think I’ve ever heard anybody talk as fast or stress me out for them as much as you did in this video. I hope you’ve been able to calm down since this. Stress is hard on the mind and body and management is as important as healthy eating and exercise. I wonder with the big move coming up and all that entails, if maybe some deep breathing, meditation or yoga could be helpful??

Sams credit card is the best. I've already cashed in over 120 in groceries with the cash back this year and have 350.00 available that I have been saving for this time of year with the stresses of what is to come. My next trip there is week after next to use that & I'm thinking this is the time to start the 1 month challange with a little fresh food in between. Thank you !

Lol, the pickle jars work great as milk jars. I dump most of the pickle juice out and toss in some baking soda both into the jar and the lid for a couple days to get rid of the smell. Rinse then wash and they work great. Used to fill them out of the bulk tank. 3.99 is a great price. They are 9.99 at the kroger here.
