October LitLand 2023 ~ A New Round Begins

Starting off a whole new round of LitLand, where I let a board game pick what I'll read each month. Open for the full rules!

Current LitLand Rules
There are six colors tied to six different genres. Each card I pull advances me across the board and informs which genre I pick from to add to my To Be Read (TBR) pile for the month.
I pull four cards to advance across the board each month.
If I land on a dot, I have to pull a prompt from my Stuck Square cards; I also use these as punishment cards if I haven’t completed one of my books from a previous month. BUT I do allow rollovers, so I essentially give myself two months to get a book read, or else I have to take a punishment. Punishment pulls also don’t help me advance across the board.
If I pull a card with a book on it, I have to go to wherever the genre on the card takes me. I also have to pull a Challenge Card and complete that prompt.
There are also Troll Bridge cards, but I only pull those if I want to cross a bridge or if I land on a square with a rainbow sticker. I have to complete the prompt on that card within the month or I have to take a punishment.
There’s also the Monthly Troll, which is an optional challenge for you and me. I will pull a Troll Bridge card and if I succeed in whatever the challenge is, I can protect myself from punishment in the next month. You’re welcome to play along and take on this challenge with me, but no pressure.
At the end of LitLand I get to treat myself with a book haul.
Hopefully, this helps keep us all up-to-date on the rules. Sometimes I make tweaks as I go along, but the current rules affecting this month’s game should be listed above.

Also, Crumbs is fantastic, and Night of the Dragon is actually book three. Soul of the Sword is book 2. Love that series.

Loki is such a good cat name! Gizmo ended up getting some antibiotics and the next step is to figure out if he's allergic to something. Fingers crossed both furry friends figure it out!

​@TheLitReviewForBooks Based on the first books of each series, I am sure I will love both. The Natasha Bowen series combines history of the slave trade with folklore which I love. Adrienne Young's Fable was just a fun time and I am looking for to an easy and quick read with the second one.

Instead of a book haul, why don't you treat yourself to a month of reading romance the following month? You could use your romance tarot cards as pull cards instead of pulling genre cards. Or you could continue the board and use each genre still but they're all romance--historical and romance, ya and romance, etc.
