I think the Tom Cruise references in Rouge were connected to his character in Eyes Wide Shut! 🌹

Great wrap up Elizabeth!!! I love listening to you talk about books!!! 😍😍🙌🙌📚📚 I am about 100 pages into Rouge (reading it without the audio currently and im a super slow physical reader 😅) but I am already feeling a 5 star!!!!!! I knew Mona Awad wouldn't let us down!!!

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Fourth Wing. I just got the audio book on Libby and I bought the Kindle book to follow along. I have read a few fantasy books but I am not a big fantasy reader. Hoping I enjoy it as much as you did.

🤞 I hope you do too. I think nostalgia played into it for me too. So now I’m nervous having recommended it so broadly. Don’t take it too seriously. Happy reading! ❤️🙌🏻

It’s so fun seeing so many people pick up Fourth Wing when they don’t usually read that genre!! I’m one of those people and currently reading and loving it! I completely agree with wanting to be more open to other genres I’m totally feeling the same way.

Ooh! I am so excited to see Ania Ahlborn on here. I am currently reading 101 Horror Books To Read Before You're Murdered by Sadie Hartman and Ahlborn got a feature in the Monster chapter, and I'm intrigued as I hadn't heard of her before! My TBR is growing at a terrifying rate because of that book, it's a problem 🤣

I really like what you said about going outside of your comfort zones - I usually read horror and lit fic, but right now I'm reading a historical fantasy novel, The Night Ship by Jess Kidd. It's nice to read something different from what I usually do, and the book is great so far. We shouldn't limit ourselves to labels, just read what you enjoy! Thanks for the wrap up!

Stolen Tongues was firstly published on a subreddit called r/NoSleep. Subreddit authors tend to write their post as if they were really experiencing those creepy stuff themselves. That's why the main character is named after the author.

🌹I finished Cackle last night and loved it. I wasn’t sure for a while because the use of the petname “pet” and Annie’s inability to get it together was getting to me, but that moment in the bathroom mirror made it worth it. And I can’t believe I’ll probably read The Fourth Wing now. You sold me.🌹

Nice!! I’ve just learned there is a boycott of Rebecca Yarros’s books (involving her opinions about Palestine) so now I feel bad recommending it. I haven’t researched it yet, but just a heads up.

I go back and forth on picking up Fourth Wing so much 😂 also Stolen Tongues started as entries on the r/nosleep subreddit so I think the author name (which might even be a pen name idk) is intentionally the same as the main character for meta creepiness as if this actually happened to him if I had to guess
@ReadingWryly

Oh!!! One of those “fictionalized life of the author” things. Got it. Fourth Wing is essentially ACOTAR with dragons instead of fairies. You’d probably enjoy it, but not for the literary merit. 😅

I read 100% of Leech and it was 100% trash. I agree with you and the only reason I finished it was because it’s for a book club I am in otherwise it would’ve been a DNF for sure.

Black Sheep is still on my TBR as I wait for the audio, but I've loved all of the Rachel Harrison I've read. I think the thing that creeped me out the most for Laws of the Skies was the narrator. I felt like he was telling me this children book and all the kids died, it was unsettling. 😂
