in case anyone didnt realize, the enemy weakness was arranged in a fixed order, so u can narrow down the guess based on what u have. if u break enemy with sword and dagger but there is still 1 slot in between, then it is definitely spear etc.

This game got much better reception than I was expecting. I thought it would be some jrpg that only a couple people cared about, being overshadowed at E3 by Smash Bros, Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Challenge Battle mode, the other 3rd party games, and ultimately just something people would say "Oh yeah, that one game... octopus traveler or whatever." Thankfully I was wrong.

At 3:25 you listed the characters in the wrong order. It's OPHILIA first, Cyrus, TRESSA, OLBERIC, Primrose, Alfyn, THERION, H'aanit. You know this because if you start as Ophilia at the 12 o'clock position of the map and go clockwise recruiting everyone, this is the order you recruit them and it spells Octopath

Advancer 64 yep 65, did the first phase of the boss and then did some of the second phase and then was like "this is absolutely pure cancer" haha, was an hour into the fight at that point and just put the game down. All characters at level 70 except H'annit at 80

*minor spoiler* if you're having problems with the grind in this game, level Therion up to obtain his Divine Skill and stack Speed (Fleetfoot/Weapon/Armor/Accessories). This will allow you to kill enemies way above your level, and allow you to grind high level areas. Later on, level up Therion as a Warrior to obtain Surpassing Strength, and he will become the Boss Killer.

Already logged over 70 hours on Octopath Traveler, and haven't even finished the third Chapters of my main team, or even started on Olberic or Cyrus! I recommend starting with Therion and picking up H'aanit next. Planning on saving Olberic for last (his Challenge ability will help him catch up to the others' levels relatively easily)

Mitch Man True that it would take a lot of duels to grind up to the others' levels (not to mention a LOT of time and patience...), but every little bit helps. Plus all the extra gold (or whatever the currency is actually called...) you earn is nice! :D

Kenny Boberts His skill (at least so far, he is my main party member) isn't really for earning extra exp or gold, you use him to knock people out that are in front of door ways in villages. His extra rewards from duels are virtually nonexistent, any fight that could earn a small amount of gold is often negated by having to use twice as much money earned in healing items.

In the first demo, you could use the break mechanic to stun your opponent, but this was changed in the final game by giving the enemy the untouchable initiative the next round after recovering

I bought the physical game of Octopath Traveler. On the day it came out here in the States. But I still have yet to really play it. Only because on the day I had gotten Octopath. I had gotten Captain Toad as well. And the only 2 Switch games I been wanting to play a lot lately is Captain Toad and Zelda. And I have wonder who did the voices for Revali and Teba. You almost never have to use analyze if you know that the weapon and element weaknesses are ALWAYS displayed in the same order. For example, if you have an enemy with 3 weaknesses and the last one is a spear, it CANNOT be weak to axes, or bows, or any elements.

The old English they use, unless based on pre-Shakespearean English, is absolute garbage. Random -en and -st added to words does not = Shakespearean English. "Leten the hunt beginen." "Leten my arrow flyen true."

Nathan Dugas yeah it was annoying because it just came off as lazy. No Shakespearean, or old English words (or even new, made up ones). Just adding "-en" and "-est" and using old pronouns. It honestly sounds like a normal person pretending to speak old English lol. I understand Square Enix is a Japanese company but their English writers should have put in a bit more effort

For sure! It's a minor thing, but it really bothered me! Maybe that's just my literature student background, but personally my time spent doing H'aanit's chapters kind of breaks the immersion for me because I'm so focused on the poor attempt at Shakespearean. That being said, it is a relatively minor thing and I'm still madly in love with the game.

I just made up some background for h'aanit which was basically that her whole village was like weebs but with old english and not japanese and didnt really know how it worked but they just kinda added the endings and that kinda helped make it less annoying

I know people get their pants wet over turn-based combat(which I love myself), but it isn't the only rpg type of combat that is from the old times.

Strange that the game was apparently in such short supply, and yet I simply walked into my local GameStop and picked up a copy without a problem. Didn't even preorder or anything. Here's a useless fact If you go down to miscellaneous in the menus and tune the voice volumes, your current party leader will say "Octopath Traveller" There's one for each character, so if you've ever wanted to hear Therion say the title of the game, you can, using this completely useless tip Also if you didn't already know, though it isn't possible to take your first main character out of your active party, it is possible to swap out your party's leader in the tavern. ( I didn't know about this for a while ) So if you were like every other person who played this game and chose Tressa as your main character the second you saw her as an option because of how darn adorable she is, but you then realise "man this would look so much cooler if Olberic was leading the party instead" now you can change that!

As a Chinese live in China I am bothered by the huge amounts of idioms they used in English scripts. Actually It's easy to learn the grammar that someone called Middle English because context helps a lot. AND I'm also wondering if it's friendly to other players who has a poor vocabulary as me, like a person from northern Europe or or non native speakers. That may be a question about English itself lol.

Soviet Ninja depends. Do you like jrpg? YEAH! Are you the kind of person that doesn't play jrpg or Rpg? Do you hate a lil bit of grinding? Is the turn based battle system a turn off? No, this is not the game for you! It all comes down to your personal preferences!!

As MemeMaster said, it's very much personal preference. This game won't appeal to everyone. But it's a very highly refined version of what it is. As a JRPG it obviously requires a fair amount of grinding - but I've found that by not using the fast travel option, I've really not had to spend much time grinding. Being a turn-based battle system makes combat fairly slow, but it's very tactical, with a huge range of options. It's by far the most complex and fun turn-taking battle system I've used. Other than that, incredible writing. The stories aren't anything revolutionary but the dialog is very well crafted. Good voice acting. Great sense of exploration. And that music. Oh that music! It's fantastic.
