In my hundred hours of playing this game, it never once crossed my mind to use hired help. I though “it uses money, well why would I waste my money like that.” Then I preceded to beat the game with millions of gold without having ever been close to running out. Uuuhh, oops

Yeah money is really easy to come by. Stealing items saves a lot of money, using collect on bosses can get you a lot of money, and using the Divine skill for the merchant gives money dependent on the damage done which is useful

Rhexyn I didn’t get to play this game past Chapter 2 because I got too busy for JRPGs at college, but I used to be plugged into at least the reddit and Discord community. Has Tressa become a more highly rated character in general or just by speedrunners? I know she was mostly known for Runelord Sidestep cheese, but even that was undervalued by everyone I talked to.

Nicholas Harris, highly recommend Golden Sun and Bravely Default (which introduced BP that people forget to mention, plus it has ant auto-battle feature that makes grinding easier).

in an age of content being cut to sell as DLC, 110+ hrs in and getting the secret ending, octopath is the only game i really want them to expand on either with DLC or a sequel. the individual stories were charming, the NPC quests meshed together so nicely in the end. thats the problem, you sorta didnt want it to end. my only gripe with the game is towards the end there was no challenge zone to really test out the advance classes til you hit the hidden dungeon. every enemy on the map would get nuked.

Octopath's biggest issue is that the "8 stories" concept ended up limiting the game's ability to have linear content like a proper end game. That said it's been a commercial success and Square Enix has already started hinting at more games in the same vein.
