Ya know, we just got satanistic cults, getting falsely accused for pedophilia of the princess no less! Stealing and beating the shit out of a landowner (who was being a complete ass so... tressa is the best), olberic kills no less than a dozen people, primrose literally joins a brothel for all of ten seconds, alphyn suffers massive existentialism and makes himself fix someone who’s soul is broken! Therion went through a huge trust issue only to realize that someone else had an even worse situation than he was in, and then we got Hannit who literally just sicks monsters on random people (it’s optional but I digress) OCTOPATH IS FUCKIN DEEP

Add therion you need that aeber reckoning the strongest divine skill in jobs at lvl45 he can get 17k plus damage

@@someclevername8167 i only use winnegield for armor break, my finishing move is aebers reckoning because at lvl 55 you can deal 99999 damage with buffs at a stunned boss. Also use it to grind at forest of purgatory when all my characters are lvl 43. That shit is op

Ricardo Milos It’s pretty funny actually because Winhields battle cry can actually get 99999 damage on ALL 6 hits which can pretty much one shit every boss in the game. It does require a lot of equipment and support skills though but trust me, Aebers reaconing is weak when compared to Winhields battle cry.

It is an overrated, repetitive game... The story is also not great and half of the 8 protagonists are poorly written and unnecessary... the actual game is grindy as fuck and the combat system never evolves from its beginning hours... Only worthwhile things are its artstyle and music

Too bad the adult themes are ruined by garbage writing. I stopped playing after finding out who the 3rd tat guy was for that primrose dancer. Such incredibly lazy and obvious writing. That scholars story quests are also extremely boring and lazy. After that I started to see that the game has poor world design, just 3 increasingly high levels of desert, snow, forest cities with an oasis & gladiator etc for some variation. The story and world building is pathetic compared to something like Trails in the sky and that game came out nearly 20 years ago now. Story and world was clearly an afterthought, at least the gameplay is solid.

I agree. Having spent 90+ hours on the game, the only thing holding the game back from being one of the best Switch JRPGs out there is the narrative. For a game that puts so much emphasis on story, the characters' individual stories are pretty lacklustre with mostly the same formula (enter the town, go to the dungeon, defeat boss, rinse and repeat). I will say that it looks absolutely gorgeous and I really hope Square uses this art style for future games and possibly for remaking old ones like Chrono Trigger (if they ever do). In terms of world design, I feel like its great the way it is. The linear world design with secret locations to explore harkens back to older Square games, to which not every JRPG needs an open world to be good. The gameplay is outstanding though. Overall, I'll give Octopath a 7.5/10.
