The Octopus is a type of amusement ride in the shape of an octopus. Five to eight arms attached to a central axis spin and move up and down in random, while cars at the end of the arms, either attached directly to the arm or fixed on spinning crosses, spin freely or stay in place, depending on the exactly type of ride.

Each Octopus ride has the arms attached the middle of the ride. The middle of the ride will move somehow (Octopus head, Spider cylinder object, and so on). Most octopus rides require guests to be at least 42 inches to ride without an adult; smaller children must have an adult with them. This is a regular of the annual AGS and AHS fairs in Ateneo de Manila University

IIRC, Spider rides have 6 arms and 2 cars at the end of each arm while Octopus rides have 8 arms and 1 car per arm. If such is the case, this is a Spider ride.

It is rare to see this ride along with the sky diver! Two of my fav rides! I acrualoy haven't seen any if them at the fairs in Cali! So bummed

So true, I have not seen a skydiver in at least 10 years. This was a rare gem last year, was not there this year. I have run across the enterprise (same one) at both the state fair and Santa's enchanted forest recently

I rode one at Busch Gardens Williamsburg over 30 years ago. It was scary at the time. I could definitely feel a few G forces lol

Wonderful Video!!!! The Spider Debuted in 1967 by the Eyerly Aircraft Company of Salem, OR. It was manufacturer by Eyerly until the late 1980's. The Spider is of chute of the Eyerly Monster that Debuted in 1962. Only to be reintroduced by Battech Enterprises in late 2010's. The Spider Models are a Little different than Eyerly, Like two Arms can be Loading or unload at one time. Eyerly's Spider only one arm can be Loading or unloaded at one time. Also Battech Spider has a LED Light Show. I don't Like this Spider because it is missing it's Head, but the Video is Great. F+L, Corey

God I remember riding this when I was like. Eight or nine, around there? It felt like the type of scene you'd see in a cartoon where the characters were going so fast their skin would peel off, and they'd be perfectly fine next scene. It was wild, though I'm curious as to what it'd be like now that I'm older

That ride was always at my local fair when I was little I loved it! But was always scared because when they where loading people at the bottom it always felt like I was going to fall out at the top I remember always just hanging on for dear life because I thought I was gonna fall out

The ride is the Spider, and it came out in 1966. This one is owned by Wade Shows. A lot of shows carry them and have done good at refurbishing them.

Eyerly spider made its debut in 1967.
