Clarification for Setting 3 (120HZ Option): 1. Only affects "CINEMATIC MODE" 2. This may already be setup correctly for some of you. I'm still not quite sure why it is for some and not for others. 3. That leads me to the main point: this does not depend on if you have a 120HZ or 60HZ screen connected. I suspected it would automatically be enabled on a 120HZ screen, so tested with an LG CX and that was not the case. Many users are seeing it not setup correctly on both 120HZ and 60HZ panels, whilst many are seeing it setup correctly on both as well. I have no idea what factor changes how it is setup, but it is not influenced by the refresh rate of the screen you are connected to. I will update this comment with more information as I get it.

Did you see my comment about having my display turned off? After setup I turned off my TV and immediately explored the settings. I found I could enable the 120hz mode in the headset and the 120hz option in the display settings was actually the one grayed out for me (but still set to auto.) My TV is 60hz.
@nickkalister6291 Жыл бұрын
the only reason you'd want to enable that setting is if your flat tv doesn't support 120 hz or you're not using an external TV at all. if that's the case, then yeah, make sure it's set as described in the video. BUT! if you DO haave a 120Hz tv you won't see the feature automatically enable bc the setting is to enable 120 Hz output on the headset when your tv doesn't support 120 hz. So with a 120 hz display there's no reason to enable it and you WILL get 120 hz output in the headset. so, basically, NO, don't turn this on if you have a 120 hz capable tv and dont' be surprised that you never see it enabled because it doesn't need to be.

Setting three must be a bug. Having to disable the 120hz output doesn't make any sense unless it has something to do with trying to output TWO 120hz signals at the same time.
@Octorious Жыл бұрын
There is certainly something odd with it. Your theory about the two simultaneous signals might definitely be right. If you set it to 120HZ, the TV then receives no input of you playing non-VR games, but that said, even at 60HZ the TV gets no input when cinema mode is in use, so I really don't get it. For my first day or two with the VR, I assumed it being set to auto in the main settings greyed that one in the VR out at 'off' because it would automatically turn it on when 120HZ content was detected in cinema mode. HOWEVER, I started to think it just wasn't as fluid as it should be for 120HZ, despite it allowing me to use 120HZ modes in games, it just still felt like 60. I did some experimenting and then realised if you do what I do in the video, it causes a screen flicker like a normal change of display refresh rate would, and then it felt noticeably smoother and was obviously outputting at up to 120HZ now. I didn't want to include it in the video without properly testing it so I tried it on a 60HZ and 120HZ screen, and both had the same weird default setup. Definitely confusing for people who don't see this video and I hope it gets sorted! Thanks for watching :)

I’m typically someone who is highly sensitive to motion sickness. I can’t really get into first person shooters because of it. But I have had some success in VR by exploring the different movement settings the games offer. Some of the movement options favor those of us that are sensitive. And a general rule of thumb is it is better to play in a space where you can physically rotate your body a full 360 degrees. Rather than use the controller to rotate your body. But with the PSVR2 you will also need to be mindful of that cord. I ordered a VR wire pully system for the ceiling for this very reason. I can move around without getting tangled up in the wire or it constantly being tugged on.

The reason it can't technically be 4k, is because with both lenses being 4k, for the screen to be "4k" it would have to be way too large in the headset to be functional I believe. Don't worry about the resolution of it cos it looks great. Fire up youtube and watch 4k, 8k, and 12k videos and you'll see it looks a lot nicer than 1080p does.

If you read the description, it enables 120hz on the headset *_IF_* your display doesn't support it. If your display _does_ support it, there is no need for the setting, hence why it's greyed out.
@Octorious Жыл бұрын
But the thing is, it actually still doesn't seem to. I tested it on an LG CX as well at 120HZ, and when changing to 120HZ in game, it still didn't actually change the output. I assumed for my first few days it was 120 but started to think it wasn't as smooth as it should be, tested it with 60hz and 120hz screens and had the same feeling. Then figured out the workaround for both, turned it on, and there was now the noticeable flicker when enabling 120 in games, and it felt a heck of a lot smoother. I think it might be a tad bugged out, but it was an issue on all screens in my testing. I think the description is more just emphasising that you display doesn't have to be 120 for it to work.

The sweet spot is definitely quite narrow. It took me a couple days to actually find it and figure out a way to keep the headset there but once you do find it, you'll know as everything will be pin sharp and perfect. I don't think you've found it yet if it's still more blurry than you imagined. However, it could also be your eyes. If you have glasses/contacts and your prescription is off by even the tiniest amount to your real eyesight (let's say you are short sighted), that could cause blurring. If you don't need glasses, it's possible you do have a very very very minor level of short sightedness that has just never needed glasses for real life, but vr does amplify it. Could also be the lenses are already dirty so try giving them a wipe with a clean and fresh microfibre cloth. :)

@@TristanTheVRGamecat Funny you complain that you "wish people would look into what settings do before listening to KZbinrs who don't have a clue" when you are the one who clearly doesn't have a clue. The 120hz mode referred to here has nothing to do with the TV at all. It is strictly regarding the PSVR2. Sony PS5 PSVR2 Setting: "Output 120 Hz Video to VR Headset Output 120 Hz video to your VR headset even if the HDMI device that your PS5 is connected to doesn't support 120 Hz output." How exactly does this make the "native PS5 output worse" according to you? What "PS5 output" are you even talking about? The frame rate? The resolution? The general display itself? Because all you do is switch the PS5 120 Hz setting from "Automatic" to "Off" so that you can get the 120 frames option for the VR display to show up. Then you can go back to the 120 Hz setting for the TV & turn it back to "Automatic." Anyone wearing a VR headset wouldn't be using their TV to game on anyway, so there would be zero difference. And if they do switch back to gaming on their TV, it would be on them if they didn't turn 120 Hz to their TV back to "Automatic"

What you guys think about OLED TV and Tracking support function? Theoretically it`s displaying static image all the time. Do you think it could burn some pixels ?
@Octorious Жыл бұрын
I had a similar comment earlier, so instead of me retyping the same response, here's what I gave them: "This is a good point and something I should have mentioned in the video. To be completely honest though, OLEDs are so good with their measures to counter burn-in these days, especially LG's, that unless you ONLY play VR games all day for several days in a row with no other content, you should be fine. I don't see many people who are gonna be playing 12 hours at a time every single day with no other content on their TV, but you definitely raise a good point and it is something I should have definitely realised and mentioned for sure!" Maybe only enable it if you notice issues, just in case, but I think itd be fine as long as you arent ONLY ever playing VR content :)

Hey thank you very much for the tips. I only did my setup and then i needed to go back to work. Im glad i found this video before playing a game. One question, do you need to manually turn the controllers off or do they turn off when you turn the headset off to? This might sound a little bit dumb but i hope you get what i mean

I think if you have a 120 hz display PSVR2 displays the main menu at 120 fps already so it doesn't have to go to black when starting a compatible game. Me having a 60 hz display the settings are not greyed out. They are most probably greyed out at 120 hz displays because it defaults to 120 hz anyway when connected to a 120 hz display 💟 p. s. It also doesn't have to go to black for 60 fps games, they can be displayed inside a 120 hz container

So, I can play GT7 in 120fps in PSVR2? Since 1,31 GT7 supports 120fps, but my tv in 60 only... I´d like to know if game will play at 120 using the PSVR2. "It´s for cinematic mode only" did not help me to understand it.

@DeshaunXD6 ай бұрын
This varies on how you boot the headset initially. If you cut on the headset at the first PSN login screen before sign in, it won't display on screen. Very useful if someone wants to use the TV while you do your own thing in VR. If you turn on the PSVR2 after you sign in to PSN, the display will show on screen for everyone to see.

Hmm interesting! There've been no new VR2 software updates since launch, or main console software updates so if it was a bug, it can't have been patched without any sort of physical update could it? What display do you have your PS5 plugged into out of interest? I mean, I'm glad it works fine for you, but I wanna figure out why it is locked for so many people regardless of if they are on a 60 or 120hz screen aha

does tracking mode even do anything if you dont play towards your screen and/or it is off?
@Octorious10 ай бұрын
No it won't. If your TV is off, then it wont help. If you're playing stood up and even turning around in a full circle, it'll still help though as it's a static point it can easily see to make sure the environment doesn't start to drift or anything. It works best for games where you are still and facing the TV though like GT7
@My1xT10 ай бұрын
@@Octorious at least when play play area is to the left of the tv (and i do not mean diagonally front left, but actually left) and it only can Really see the edge of the tv, i guess there isn't much to do with the tracking mode

The power saving and haptic/trigger settings for the controllers are the only ones that'll affect regular gameplay, as they apply to the Dualsense as well as the VR controllers.
