I live in a place so muddy that I couldn’t imagine having a bag without rails. Definitely sacrifices some upright balance though. Probably makes the bag less comfortable due to the rigidness too. Sweet series. Love what you guys do.

The rainfly is perfect for muddy rounds while still being able to access all the pockets.

My DD bag has a structured bottom that I don’t notice. Not sure how they went about it but it’s a taller bag that is still super stable. I’ve never had it fall over on the course. So it’s possible. I also think you need a spot for an umbrella and (not or) a retriever. You need both. Also some bungees or some other way to carrying a stool would be nice. If you nail those things you will probably be my next bag when my current bag is ready for retirement.

Could you shorten the front to back width of the foam? I think doing this would still provide increased structure, but not actually come into contact with the wearer's back. If it could be stitched into place, that would ensure the shortened foam doesn't eventually slide forward until it makes contact with the person. Loving the new Octothorpe and appreciate Pound's hard work!

We tried that too lol. The back ultimately just collapses to whatever point the foam terminates. Keep watching though ...

Speaking from the experience I've had with my current bag (Prodigy BP1-V3), I would hope they either go with bumpers or rails instead of a full insert in the bottom. My bag has a plastic plate in the bottom and it bruised my lower back/tailbone after the first couple rounds. I got used to it after that, but had I paid full price for that bag I'd have been pissed. BP1-V3s retail for like $240 (nowhwere close to a pound), but I got it on Whatnot for like $50. I'm glad they're testing each modification.

Agreed! The Bobba nod is a classic combo for us at this point.

Have you thought of curving the structured bottom up? This way a harsh edge isn't on the back?
@levibuckingham1566
@levibuckingham1566 7 күн бұрын
yes, but the discs would naturally cascade to the edges of the main compartment. Stay tuned!

Need a vertical component to the bottom plate on the edge facing the wearer's back to spread the load from a knife edge to a flat face. The phone pocket needs to be big enough, not only for a phone, but big enough for a phone with a case like the Otterbox Defender Pro (without the clip part) but the big rubberized case to protect the phone.

We tried the flat face idea you're talking about, and it was more comfortable, but not NEARLY as comfortable as the OG Octo ... stay tuned! For people that want to carry a phone with a mondo case, the upper detail pockets are the way to go. If we made that much volume in that pocket it would make the mini pocket sloppy for everyone not carrying a big case, and the volume needed in general for a case that big would hurt the aesthetic on the front of the bag.

Love the new strap system as well. When it comes to my V2 vs my V3, I like my v2's straps all day every day. The v3 just doesn't feel right and the snaps are.. fussy. Also, something to think about with the top putter pocket. The older versions accept superclass discs. People still throw the condor and the zephyr. I usually throw my bunker busters up in the top pocket when I throw them because they don't fit in the bottom. Side to side in the putter pocket is quite okay to have. Especially for those who still bag the superclass stuff regularly or on occasions.

Glad to hear you're digging the new straps - the snaps could indeed be a bit fussy. I have a Makani, Polecat, Sonic, and Glitch in just 1 the new haul pockets!! I've been calling it the fun pocket and now have a blanket offer for anyone I play with to pull something out and throw it whenever they feel inclined.

there is retention for them in each side of the long pockets.

@ so you leave the side pocket slightly open/unzipped? Does the pocket have a tendency to ‘unzip’ further as you jog your round? My Grip BX3 bag suffers this problem.
@levibuckingham1566
@levibuckingham1566 7 күн бұрын
@@lorenbarnhurst umbrellas and retrievers are taller than the pockets, so they have to remain open. There's no issue with normal use/walking, but if you're jogging and the pack is jostling a lot then they'll likely come open a bit. However, if you go custom and get waterproof zippers, which are much tackier in terms of operation of the slider in the zipper, then you'd have no issues at all.

Hate these videos. I can already tell I'm going to drop $500+ on a new bag I don't need thanks to your bag porn 🙂
