I use a total eclipse envy as my approach disc. I actually have 3 envys in different plastics. The total eclipse is the most stable and reliable by far. I have a standard neutron for my straight thrower. If I need a short turnover shot, I use a well seasoned electron envy. I honestly believe with the range of plastic types that the envy is one of the most versitile discs I've ever used.

Good points w/ the trust in discs. I've bagged the Axiom Tempo as my main approach disc immediately after the 2023 MVP Circuit Challenge. I could just tell the Tempo was for me. There are brief moments when me & Tempo don't get along, but it's usually on me when I lack trust in my skill & in the disc. So even a bad day w/ a trustworthy disc, I know a good day is around the corner once I bring back my trust.

The Jarn was no match for me backhand against my gator when it came out I kept trying to make it fit my bag since I bag several other Kasta discs. But since I watched your video I now have to try the Wild thing since you had it dialed in BH. I like watching Caleb huck but your more my speed fun watch keep it up brother..

Järn is great, got both K1 and K3, and the K3 one is almost like a Zone OS stability
@dblevins34316 күн бұрын
I use the Tempo and the Jarn. The Tempo can push and essentially acts like a less stable zone but more stable Envy. The Jarn is my "dive bomber" in K1 soft. It's between the Zone and Zone OS in stability. The K1 soft also helps the dosc land and not skip when landing hard nose down. Hence why I love "dive bombing" it.

Rather than throwing different angles to the same distance, I think it would be a better test to throw to different distances with both forehand and backhand. Like 150', 175', 200', 225'. Certain molds are going to perform better at a specific short distance due to their stabilities.

I bag the Rhyno and Pig - both in R-Pro, and neither are really as overstable as a Zone. But I think that makes them more usable for someone at my level. Very overstable approach discs are more useful as utility discs, where the Rhyno and Pig are more all-purpose. I don't even bag a Zone or an approach disc that stable right now.

Content idea: Idios VS Vessies VS Terrex (goretex versions that are waterproof) VS Moab 3 (with waterproofing spray) - The two sponsored disc golf shoes vs the two most popular shoes used by average disc golfers. Compare grip, weight, price, durability, waterproofing, warmth in summer/winter, etc. Thanks for doing something that featured a lot of forehand! This is my kind of content for sure, a deep dive into flights of similar discs. The Eclipse and Neutron Tempos are somehow less shallow, but obviously hard to come by. Don't know why the proton soft tempo has such a different hand feel. The Eclipse and Neutron versions feel almost exactly like my ESP zone, in shape. I prefer the zone for 150ishft approaches, as it gets better ground play and flare skips. The tempo is more of a short (200-240ft) hole driver, as the extra glide and less over-stability gives it more hang time and straightness to make ace runs.

The Tactic will likely sell better when it comes out in the C-Line and S-Line plastics, and its sufficiently differentiated from the Razor Claw. They really are 2 different molds, and blurring the lines between the 2 discs (I think) makes people choose one over the other. And people are going to go with the Razor Claw as a more stable alternative to the Tactic. I prefer the Tactic to the Razor Claw, personally.

RPM KEA 4, 3, 0, 3.5 Available in all RPM plastics including Glow. Base plastic (Strata) is nice and tacky and super grippy when wet) Thick walled rim makes for a better feeling grip for me than my Entropy. My Strata Kea just seems to stop dead when it hits the ground instead of skipping off into the wilderness. A goto throw for me is head height, beside the rear shoulder, Anhyzer thrown directly at a spot on the ground... pulls out of the Anhyzer and stops dead on that target.

Id argue that the Rhyno and Sinus are, and were both putters. They were designed to be torque resistant, sure, but not like the Zone. Approach discs are something that changed the game. The way disc golf could be played was objectively different after the Zone. Maybe you like something better than the Zone, but I think nothing beats it.
@brytompkinsАй бұрын
My approach game has really fallen off recently. The course I played too much this year ended up getting too easy that I didn't need an approach disc any more. I started with the R-Pro Pig but ended up leaving myself with too many c2 putts. I switched to the Toro but it was too dumpy and left with with too many long putts again. I switched to the R-Pro Toro and fell in love with it. It developed a puddle top and no longer had much fade so within a few months, it was useless as I tend to roll my wrist on forehand. I tried the Rat as well but it wasn't stable enough. I finally found a Proto stamp Caiman. And I haven't looked back. It is the perfect forehand approach disc for me. Enough stability to fight out, not too much to be dumpy. I use it for anything under 175', almost always forehand. And it's probably ruining my putting since I am basically in bullseye every time it comes out for use.

I'm going to bring a critique here, but before I do I want to say that this channel is bringing some of the best disc review content that there is and I appreciate you all. I'm also sure this 28min video took a long time to make, so I feel guilty saying it, but... The sample size of this type of comparison needs to be larger. A few poor throws are killing certain disc's 'ratings' versus other discs without poor throws. The results here are compromised because some discs are punished bc they happen to be victim to a miss release. That said, this offers a fantastic reference for the shape of each disc and some helpful input on the hand feel.

I appreciate your approach to this comment and for sure, I understand there's some outliers. One of the reasons I published the data for people to review was so they could remove those outliers and probably see a less extreme comparison, but of course, it is very subjective and personal to my taste and experience, as is shown by the fact the Jarn was the best.
