I like the theory that Dragon is a former Holy knight. He seems to know a lot about this mysterious/hidden group for the government, enough to be genuinely scared of them. He could have been forced to join because Garp became the hero of the marines. And it finally also might be able to form a connection to the theory that Luffy's mother was a world noble, possibly a noble who Dragon could have had to be a guard for and gained feelings for when he was a holy knight.

That could be a fun twist for a moment but it make less logical sense for the overall story. Dragon is a D member, meaning his ancestors were the enemies of the celestial dragons and world government that were entirely wiped out in a genocide. There’s no way they don’t know Garp is a D and have historical records of family members. And also, Dragon had to have grown up and been brought up in adolescence in poverty and witnessing a lot of injustice/corruption/inequality … in , young adulthood he might have been part of the marines or some secret organization in them like CP9 to get all the hidden knowledge at some point following Garp then left then after Roger’s execution.

@@neltins5308 He doesn't necessarily have to had grown up in poverty, He could have seen that injustice from the inside when he was doing a mission or something and had a change of heart after realising that the world is very corrupt, and the people who he was working for were scum. (kind of like that storm trooper character from the Disney trilogy of star wars, but you know - better written) But you are right about the other parts, though it does seem quite suspicious that Dragon seems scared of these holy knights when they don't seem like a force that goes out and handles problems outside of Mary Geoise and is more of the World Governments final trump card. That kind of fear that he is expressing is not only the first kind of fearful emotion he is really expressing, but is also the kind of emotion that seems like an emotion you don't just get from hearing about these people from someone else. I think that even if he wasn't a former member, he has to have had some previous interaction with them at some point, maybe fought against one and was beaten quite handily.

If Shanks does have a family member/twin (etc) in the God's Knights, then they could be two sides of the same coin - Shanks is shown to protect the weak with his allied crews, the God's Knight 'Shanks' would be shown to protect the ultra-powerful. Both temperate, cunning, calculated characters but there is a lot Oda could do with this comparison. Bandits threaten Shanks, he brushes it off and moves on until they attack Luffy, then Shanks' ruthlessness is shown, perhaps God's Knight 'Shanks' kills mercilessly for nothing; if they are going to wipe out those rebelling then it would be an opportunity to introduce them this way. Shanks the Yonkou is a kind hearted, protector of the weak, fun loving guy, not what a pirate is 'meant' to be, and God's Knight 'Shanks' is a heartless, murdering, monster, not what a 'Holy' warrior of the World Government would be thought of as.

Or perhaps there's an equal share of power between the Gorosei and CDs to control the Holy Knights so one side can't take advantage of the other. I dont know if anybody thought about this but, there was a servant that had contact to imu in the anime right before their meeting with the gorosei. I think it might have been one of the holy knights. In my opinion it wouldnt make much sense for only a normal servant to have contact to the secret ruler of the world. The servant also seems to wear a coat that looks similar to the one that the Holy knight everyone is talking about wears. Also its hard to see but it looks like the servant ist holding on to something at their hip, might be their sword. Also hired a cool sounding voice actress for only about 5 words? Rocks D. Xebec was the previous leader of the god knights and wanted to sit on the empty throne and rule over the whole world by himself rather than serving "IMU". Shanks is the son of XEBEC and he asked Roger to save his son from WG and CD(Just like roger asked garp). Xebec was on god valley to get his son and wife who were kidnapped by his own family who wanted to become god knights by helping WG and CD in capturing Xebec. Thats when Roger agreed to find shanks and raise him as his own.Roger told the whole story to shanks when the roger pirates were disbanded.

We do know that there are nine poneglyphs so what if originally the holy knights were supposed to protect each one of them? Imu and the WG clearly do not want the true history of the one piece world to be found, so it would make a lot of sense to put out their strongest weapons to protect them, however as the people in one piece start to grow in power they relinquished the mission to protect them, and therefore Imu sent them to disintegrate the rest of the rebelling kingdoms and the yonko.

Theory: joy boy and shanks2 are part of the holy knights and were cloned. Shanks’ baby clone was freed and left on god valley by an unknown person and raised by pirates, Luffy was freed by Dragon and left with Garp. I think Shanks comes from the royal family of ,,Mars“ (red planet) which interprets with the God named Mars who had a set of twins (Remulus and Romus) who founded Rome. The Romans first month is March (Shank‘s birthday) and they were cast away in a basket (Shanks was found in box on the GrandLine) and their mother is Rhea Silver (similar to Silvers Reyleigh). Rome could then be interpreted as Marijois and the RedLine has a similar color to Mars which is just as Red as Shanks‘ hair.

as far as I remember - back in the chapter where they were still on their way to the reverie - Cobra was looking forward to is because he wanted to ask the Gorosei something? Or research something? I don't remember the detail but it had sounded like he found out something or gained some information he didn't previously have (might have been possibly researching the void century or the poneglyphs after his encounter with Robin at the end of Alabasta?) and that's why the Gorosei decided he's dangerous, or a wildcard they can't afford.

Don't know why but I wish a truly dramatic, surprising and thrilling expose of the void century. I can imagine Luffy and the others getting enough confused and someone revealing it to them one by one with Luffy himself getting serious and amazed ! That is the kind of effect personally feel would be satisfying for the audience of such a long anime/manga series. There should be some tension and seriousness in the air. The One Piece is (as Oda told) an object which when seen the One Piece ends then and there. So most critical episodes happens prior to it and can already feel the crew being teary eyed and joyful on reaching the One Piece 🙏 Ohh..... can't wait !

In the freezer that Imu goes to there seems to be exactly 9 arches 10:30 which one holds an artifact of joy boy, So my theory is that Imu summons them (The Holy Nights) by placing a unique object or relic from the past related to them on a pedestal or so. Which creates more mystery because the arches only have one illuminated section which is the one withholding Joy Boys relic, A straw hat 10:11 . Meaning he is the only summoned Holy Night that we known of thus far. And yes this is farfetched that he is a holy night but godly strength worthy of admirals, doesn’t seem too far off from joy boys strength and a possible shanks relative.

I think one of the most telling things about this chapter is despite all of CP0/9's cameos Kaku was not seen amongst them ... further fueling suspicions that Kaku is either hiding something or is trying to quit being an assassin as he gives into peer pressure when near Lucci but is more truthful to others such as Zoro. With Zoro and Kaku together on Egghead Island perhaps we can get another heart-to-heart between the 2 as Zoro seems to respect Kaku somewhat and know what he really wants.

Mini theory ! (Senvy edition) So i have another point to compare and show the resemblance between the knights of templar you mentioned and the 9 gods knights. When you said that there is a twist wherein the templars defended and protected travelers visiting the holy land but the holy knights protect / serve / defend the gods, there is actually a hidden simuluratiy / detail that G(oda) may have written.
