That white hard stuff in your water lines is called calcite. It comes from calcium and magnesium in your water. I get that built up in the pipes in my hot water furnace too especially around soldered joints that may seep just a little bit. The stuff is just as hard as bones. I have doors like yours in my wood shop and what I did was I left about a 1” gap at the bottom then screwed a thick 3” rubber strip to the bottom of the doors that just drags along the floor when they’re closed like a seal, so no mice can get in and it keeps any draft from coming in too. That way if the doors swell or shrink it still keeps a good seal and won’t drag.
@Ants_Pants Жыл бұрын
yeah i did that too to the workshop door, i wanna do something similar to the remaining doors also. they work great

For hot water stuff (if it doesn't have to be potable), I very much prefer rain water over ground water or city water. Rain water has a lot less calcium and other minerals, and those minerals clog up especially the parts where water is heated.

*- Andris, you clean the Calcium deposits out of your coffee maker once a month with vinigar diluted in the water, right?* *- This is the same thing in principal but much bigger, & with a LOT more "hard water" deposits inside the piping. **29:00* *- With the right kind of industrial cleaning solvent used to dissolve the Calcite Sand deposits out of hot water boilers, you should be able to clean this Sauna Contraption.* *~ ~ ~ ~ ~* *- **32:46** "That pure vinegar" Perfect ! ! !* *- The Calcium will "use up" the Acetic acid of the vinegar and its smell. When the deposits are completely gone, the vinegar smell will return.* *- Diluting the vinegar may help make the process faster. Repeat "dosing the system" with 50% vinegar until the Acetic acid smell of vinegar remains. Then you know you have used up all the Calcium or Calcite salts in the system.* *- I it a chemistry titration done by change of smell instead of a change of color.* *~ ~ ~ ~ ~* *- Or saw the boiler open **36:17** and chip out the layers of calcification deposits, weld up the coffee pot and get on with your sauna.*

Nice jobs! If a magnet is too strong, just put a washer on it. I always put washers or nuts on the magnets which I don't use, otherwise it can be dangerous for money cards or other metal parts ;) I also suggest put some tape on the magnet so that you can remove it without scratching the surface on which it was mounted.

@@Ants_Pants I already destroyed some magnets while removing them from metal. The metal holder from magnet and glue inside was not strong enough ;) I think many of these kind of magents are not designed for installing / uninstalling many times. At my work we use magnets to install cable rails, lights etc. on metal towers. If the installed, everything is fine. If removing them and install again, sometimes the holder breaks.

That was quite a variety of jobs - and I'm glad Joseph got some attention! I am wondering if the brace on the blade was threaded at each end - one right-hand thread and the other left-hand - so a bar could be inserted in the hole thru the middle and turning the pipe would lengthen or shorten the distance between the end connectors and tilt the blade? If so, the grease fittings would allow lubricating the threads. But something like that could lock up and be very hard to free again.
@Ants_Pants Жыл бұрын
yeah that's the case i assume, to adjust the tilt of the blade

Also, it seems you have very hard water in your area which has calcium and magnesium bicarbonates in it that precipitate out under the heat, you might have to invest in a softener. Have a great weekend from Australia mate.
