I perceived it as a metaphor of some sort of his heavy involvement with the two "black cats" idols and the possibility that he kidnapped the missing girl as insinuated on the first episodes. Never came to me that it was simply a pet cat lol

I think that Odokawa told the police about sakura and is working together with the police to capture her because when he was in the hospital bed he said he had one more thing he needed to say to the police (which we never find out what it was) so my guess is that he is working together with the police to capture her. We also see sakura commenting on how she just recently met Odakawa by coincidence and got the perfect chance to take care of any loose ends, but I don't think she just got lucky and coincidentally found Odokawa offscreen, I think he and the police were specifically trying to bait her (maybe they will try getting a confession or something like that)

Yes, thank you! This makes waaaaay more sense. Tanaka was too mentally ill and in his own world to have a partner and they would have explained how they met if that were the case. I didn’t like feeling like Odokawa (and Ichimura) might still be in danger after the show’s end. It didn’t fit with the general mood of the finale. THIS explanation seems spot on and I feel so relieved and satisfied knowing Sakura will be caught and that Odokawa really is a sweet genius with a sense of justice 😸🙌🏾👍🏾

Kazuya Konomoto hasn't written for any other anime, but I highly recommend checking out the manga he wrote, Seto Utsumi. If you enjoy the dialogue of Odd Taxi and well-made endings, Seto Utsumi delivers both of those in spades.

Sakura didn't plant the bug and lure tanaka....they were not related and also didn't knew eachother. Tanaka planted the bug by Breaking his window in the taxi and sakura planted the phone so that she can later find odokawa to kill him...

Unfortunately it isnt shown in the anime, but in the manga she gets in the wrong taxi and ends up meeting Tanaka. I havent read it so i dont know if they chat at all but it can just be assumed she offered to help him. On one hand it kinda sucks that it isnt shown in the anime, but on ther other it helps keep it more in the dark that she is the killer. It would have been a bit too obvious to the viewer if it was shown. Kind of a lose lose situation either way

If you mean Odokawa, he drove her to the agency the night Yuki was murdered so he likely just put 2 and 2 together since they were acting so shady about why she was familiar to him

Like its clearly Tanakas hand. I totally missed that the first watch. Not really odokawa potentially has evidence against her. Tanaka doesnt unless im missing something. All tanaka can do is say sakura planted the phone. If they question her, she can just say the guy made her do it, or that she thought it was a prank. If they did have some secret plot about killing odakawa, this guy was crazy, and she can just say he is lying. Thats assuming he thinks to go to the police ever about any of that since he's reformed himself

I loved this anime it was incredibly fun to get to know each character and what they were up to . If you truly want to know what happened to Odakwa at the very end watch the closing credits closely there is a clue there that will give you the answer. :) just like there are clues in the opening credits to the anime itself.

Honestly yeah, I don't mind a diverse cast but I'm normally not one to praise media for having one either. Especially with so many soulless corporations doing it just to pander. But I really enjoyed and appreciated how they tackled it in Odd Taxi. They didn't overly dramatize Odakawa being different. He just was slightly different than your average adult. He wasn't different in a bad way, not even in a way that affected the story very much. Obviously his condition from the accident and fear of people played a part but it's just treated as a part of his character, it was really refreshing to see.

It's neither a coincidence nor does it mean he died. She searched for him, specifically, but he also reported to the police that she was in his Taxi on the night of the murder. It is unclear if he still has his ability to recognize people. I feel that there is enough hints to work with - and they left just enough wiggleroom in the end to make the viewers mad! I was upset at first too, since I did not really compute all the infos, yet. Yet, I believe they laid out enough to make me feel that he survived.

Artificial and unconvincing. 6.5/10 The drawing, music, voice acting is what holds this show up for me. The ending is nice but i'm not convinced with how interconnected the characters are, with Odakawa's inconsistent behaviour, and his super power that's sometimes there and sometimes not for seemingly no reason.

How can we possibly imagine what happens after the final scene? It’s completely up in the air and unresolved. Which means it isn’t an actual ending. A horrible failure for an otherwise excellent show. An ending should be an ending. You can’t just let the bad guy (girl in this case) win with no consequences and expect the audience to like it.
