The SU-25 Rook is HERE! This brings a worth CAS plane to War Thunder for their most beloved Nation except for some reason, it's been moved to 9.7 where Gaijin called it a "spelling error" that it wasn't supposed to be 9.3 in the first place!
The SU-25K is the premium version and today I flew it out with resident dogfight master Defyn. I specifically tested the S-25O rockets with a MASSIVE amount of HE filler and a bespoke fragmentation warhead. These rockets are absolutely crazy.
As a bonus, I took Napalm to Vietnam and discovered a VERY fun bug where it launches enemy tanks long distances and in some cases ended up flipping them over! :)

Missile was tracking then and... last possible second it decided to stop tracking and fly just above him.. Su-7 could not have been slower. They still suck and STILL dont have realistic explosive mass...

I hit two spits flying Headon into my wirbel and they just flew off and crashed like 10 secs later but should've instantly detonated. In the same match an FC 20 took a half dozen to a dozen rounds before it went down. I was using HE.

Disagree. They make revenge kills from skillless people way worse - they can now hop in a free drone, get a revenge kill + 1 other kill, then hop back in another aircraft, while the SP to spawn air doesn't change, 'because its a different aircraft type'. Edit: they done changed the SP cost. Drones are now worthless lol

I miss the days when you and Phly, et al, would play Tank RB and fly in formation with bombers, or biplanes, or some other crazy sh!t. It looked pretty awesome when 4-5 Pe 8's went flying into the battle zone in formation. Those old crazy days always made me laugh (and always reminded me to just have fun with the game and do silly stuff like that - I rarely play on Frozen Pass without doing a tunnel run). I wish you'd do something like that with Defyn and maybe some others as well.

A-10 was designed to protect the pilot, plane will get wrecked but pilot will most likely survive no matter how savaged the plane got. SU-25 was meant to take a hit, maybe two, and complete fire mission before crashing; and like we have seen from Ukraine pilot survival was probably not even consideration in design. A plane that has both qualities is the perfect plane F15

@@DecidedlyNinja Su-25 ejection seat is just a bad design for CAS aircraft, unlike A-10s ejection seat using it at low altitude won't save the pilot more often than not if the parachute even deploys in time. Titanium tub is also thinner than one in A-10. To be fair most soviet aircraft share this problem with ejecting at low altitude so it's not just Su-25 Both are bad designs but Su-25 is just worse.

@@Salesman9001 The K-36 ejection seat is one of the best available, zero-zero capable, it even successfully saved the two pilots when they had to eject in a slightly downward angle from an Su-30. Where you got this "bad design" from I have no idea. The tub might be thinner, after all it was designed against American 20 mm, not Soviet 23 mm, which has roughly 25% more kinetic energy. During tests they fired a few rounds from a captured M-39 on the side of the cockpit, the instrument panel on the inside didn't move.

Frogfoot is NATO designation (as all fighter or attack aircraft, it has to start with letter "F"), Grach (Rook) is Russian designation. The better known worldwide is NATO designation ofc. :)

I don't know what happened to the NORD missiles after this update but when I launch them from my G91 they just fly down and to the right and even setting the control keys as sensitive as possible, there's no way to steer them fast enough on target before hitting the ground. I have to do it from like 2km up just to get them on target. :(

@@eb3yr well they kinda do. Both sides lost around 5-6 Su25 during the conflict by now. Numbers of “stingers” used in Ukraine weakly was around 30 as of June, according to Ukrainian and US officials. Conflict is going for 203 days, or 29 weeks. It makes a ratio of “stingers” per kill around 170 to 1. Ofc “stingers” are used on a variety of targets, but you get the idea.

Yea as someone who plays and loves the ozelot fun fact flares don’t help you the missiles completely ignore them but they don’t turn well so if ya identify being shot at by an ozelot just start on a sharp turn they’ll most likely miss and if you’re lucky and they only have the base Missiles they’re impact the unlocked missiles are proxy det just noticed the note of one early in the video so from someone who uses it I’m giving everyone tips to not die to it because I’ve gotten 6 kill games with it alone and it carries 8 and I died while trying to reload so figured it may help some

i think the targeting pod for the laser guided missiles is not modelled correctly. You can see it on the model right on the nose of the plane but the view you get is from somewhere between the cockpit and the nose of the plane which blocks most of your view on a downward angle.

Su-25 has a drogue chute for landing, as I understand, the brakes suck IRL too and overspeeding on 100% throttle is easy irl too unless you're flying the 25T with the Vihkr's tubes that drag brake you enough to not worry about it

Even half stock tech tree SU-25 is brilliant! Its firepower is insane! like 4 pods unguided rockets that can destroy AA, artillery and pillboxes from km away; 4 bombs that can destroy base; 2 R60M capable AAM's and cannon that can blast heavy tanks. All packed in one plane. Add there countermeasures, ruggedness and good maneuverability, and you have awesome plane. Its only downside is obviously the speed, so it cannot escape or catch enemy fighters.

The two reasons for its acceleration and speed retention are the the two R-195 engines. These are the engines of the MiG-21 SM/SMT/MF, without afterburner.

I played the M247 after the drone update and they must have done some weird snale thing with the proxy shells.. I barely hit anything anymore and they reduced the belt size so you really run out of ammo fast. (Doesnt help that you can take an additional 2x default belts that are absolutely useless for AA)

The A-10s gun platform isn’t a detriment, not useless. It over performs in the areas needed, IE, anti-bunker roles, anti-infantry, soft targets like APCs, AND tanks, however this wasn’t the guns main purpose. However the A-10 IS a tank killer because all it’s other weapon systems were built around that one aspect. Tell me the mavericks or JDAMs don’t work on tanks. I’m waiting…
