I PLAYED THE BEST TANK FROM OLD TOP TIER - IS-3 in War Thunder

The IS-3 in War Thunder was once Top Tier. Now it sits almost right in the middle as a former relic facing modern era vehicles, HEAT-FS, APFSDS, Laser Range Finders and ATGM's.
What was once an almost invincible wall of steel is now reduced to a giant Silver Lion Pinata. Today, I take the IS-3 out to revisit it to see if it still has the metal to stand up against the new War Thunder Meta!

Do not trust the stat card, D round WILL bounce on even the slightest angles, it is wholly unreliable against all the tanks at the BR, the only point the D round had was to go through maus turrets, which it no longer can, its useless, at most carry 1 or 2 rounds of it, and the rest B rounds.

IS-3 and IS-6 are very small tanks compared to allied and axis tanks. Look up size comparison of T54 and challenger for example. The T54 looks like a toy tank.

Never shoot the M-51 in the machinegun port. There are some funky glitch angles around there that give it closer to 1000mm of "armor". So many times my shells just disappeared into there.

Volumetric Shells is one of the most horribly Implemented game mechanics ever. It completely negated a Historical Exploit on the Panther D and A which allowed for the 75mm M3 to kill them from the Hull Roof by shooting the lower part of the gun mantlet. Shot traps are basically Nonexistent now due to how Volumetrics works and it directly buffs certain vehicles that had issues with things like Shot Traps in real life.

I don't understand why gaijin doesn't just have the air spawns set as.. props start at 7km and jets at 14km and maybe a middle ground for early jets as some arn't overly fast. such a simple fix instead of making props fly so far on some br's and jets spawn so close on others.

The IS-3 is hot garbage at its BR because you're always face tanks that can pen you frontally with APDS and HEAT. 90% of the time I play against 7.7 or 8.0 tanks. It's just in a dead bracket at 7.0 and needs to be reduced down to 6.7.

IS-2 definitely doesn’t have more reliable armor for it’s BR,even Tiger Is can easily pen it’s turret cheeks and lower frontal plate meanwhile IS-3 is frontally immune to all German guns besides 128mm PaK 44.

Facing IS3's and IS6's in my T95 is always fun. Most don't realize that shooting the cupola is the easiest way to kill a tutel, so watching them not being able to kill you is fun.

the bmp atgm is manually guided until you get the upgrade. once you have the upgrade you can aim it with your mouse. that being said... play passive and sneaky and youll wreck a team.

In Warthunder however, where bills are paid by wehraboos and Michael Wittman wannabees, All tiger competition is uptiered, and russian shells are nerfed.

wasnt the best tank from old top tier t10m? i remember it being there since what, 2016 or 17? anyway. personally i hate the is3, i never liked it in fact. its too slow and sluggish of a tank to be any useful. the armor it has also cant really hold up, too slow reload. so really zero redeeming qualities it has. the t10m makes up for that with speed and stablizer. and two very neat 14.5mm machine guns. not to forget, the superb pen on its aphe.

the allies Britain, france, and the usa feared the is-3 when they first saw it there best tanks the us m-26 pershing with a 90mm gun and the centurion with a 17 or 20 pdr would not be able to defeat it frontally at long range so the us created the m-103 and the british the conqueror both had 120mm guns the french did try to make a tank to take on the is-3 that was the failed amx 50, the is-3 was given armor meant to withstand hits from the 128mm gun of the jaghdtiger

Honestly I'm suprised how many players fear the IS-6 more than the IS-3, especially Tiger IIs. With good aim you can one shot or at least cripple the IS-6 with a shot to the turret front. This thing tho, it a pain to face in a Tiger II, no good places to shoot frontally except barrel, which just feels bad.
