Yeah the German tanks are really capable vehicles and I sometimes don’t get how bad the teams are. Even at the higher tiers, where you would think, that they were somewhat experienced.

Good vehicle attracts inexperienced players and inexperienced players make good vehicles. With war docos showing these as impenetrable monsters many people are surprised when they die, the German tech tree is good but players thinking a good tank is all they need, they form incorrect assumptions and while not necessarily moronic a Unknowledgeable person sees themselves as ‘smart’ so they don’t see themselves as wrong. On top of this the party dragging tanks to cheap and undertiered heaven are vocal due to them feeling right. Known as Wehraboos Many players will feel frustrated and turn to GE to advance hence the braindead top tier players known as Wallet warriors that are present in every nation, however wehraboos are special to Germany as WWII documents always show Germany as a ironclad nation while all its opponents are under its feet giving Germany a natural magnetism to new players.

This is a fact, it’s mainly newer players that have been playing for a couple of months that expect German tanks armor to be broken , but really you need to have some cover or you will die, it’s not like a m1a2 Abrams vs a Stuart. number 1 tip in war thunder is don’t stand out in a field where everyone can see you.

@@chas7665 problem with panzer IV is the giant hull that sticks out. If it was lighter it could've been great at flanking (like the panzer III which I like more), but it just isn't fast enough. Not to mention the lack of any sloped armor

I love the Panzer IV H, most of the time your opponent doesn't realize how much armor you actually have and the fact that your gun isn't to be underestimated. The other times they shoot you in the turret but you can't win them all.

Every tank has it's weaknesses and the Panzer IV H definitely has a weak turret. However, it's a bit trolly as the over lapping gun mantlet will cause non penetrations some times. The other thing for the J is obviously the terrible turret traverse. Why they didn't lower that and only that to 3.7 I don't understand. Instead, Gaijin in their infinite wisdom, decided the Panzer IV H needed to be dropped from 4.0 to 3.7. As if it wasn't already fully capable and a fantastic all round tank at 4.0. Now the G is at 3.3 too. I think it's so stupid how they balance the game. The were both fine at their BR's at 3.7 and 4.0. They did not suffer, they just are commonly used by people who failed to learn what strengths and weaknesses a tank has and/or how to kill difficult targets reliably. Odd shows exactly how to make short work of the KV-1 tanks, even the 100mm armored variants. And while those are tougher shots to make at distance, they can be made and the KV-1 will struggle to go through the Panzer IV H at distance except if it hits the turret. And if the KV-1 failed to angle, the Panzer IV can fairly easily punch through it's upper and lower front plate and usually 1 shot them. I still remember someone arguing with me as to why the T-34 and Sherman tanks were better because you can't brawl with a Panzer IV, entirely missing the point that Panzer IVs are not brawling tanks at all except the H in some cases and it was his fault for trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. You don't really have out right brawlers until you get to the Tiger tank but that doesn't make the Panzer IV series any less effective in the game. You just have to use them differently than a Sherman or T-34 and you'll do fine if not fantastic in them. They cut through T-34 armor reliably, even the 60 degree angled 45mm plate and the same can be said of the Sherman's front plate with the exception of maybe the M4A4 variants with the steeper sloping front. Of course, those also have 2 massive weak points you can aim for if you learn how to identify targets instead of complaining that your tank is bad. I still cannot believe some of the recent BR drops Germany has gotten, they've been so babied since I started playing the game again and it just makes me cringe every time I see the upcoming BR changes. Because I just know some German tank that doesn't need a BR reduction is going to have one, almost every time. At least they finally, finally made the Panzer II far less ridiculous in it's domination of the reserve and 1.3 BR as they dropped the 63mm penetrating HVAP 20mm round down to 48mm or something like that. Still very good for the BR but not egregious like it was and still a potent flanking vehicle that only has a handful of tanks it struggles to hurt. It's a lot more balanced. And this was after they debuffed 20mm spall too not long ago so finally I guess Gaijin realized how absurd the HVAP 20mm round was before now.

A big problem of the panzer 4h is the balistic analysis of the game. On the paper you can pen your enemies but in reality there are way too many bounces on kv1, kv2 and t34 ! While they have JUST enough pen to kill your panzer 4h. It is sometimes ridiculous. Other problem for the panzer 4h is that it isn't a brawler but 70% of the maps are made for cqc and brawling, making way better tje soviets (while the entire 3.7 - 4.3 4.7 germany lineup is made of snipers ! Besides churchill, t34 and kv1 b premiums)

@@casematecardinal Tiger IRL was a horrible vehicle, it was unreliable, when it got stuck only other Tiger could tow him, its cannon loose performance over distance and it was extremely expensive in terms of fuel. If any of iconic german tanks was pretty good, it was Panther or Panzer IV.

The Pz IV G and H are the peak in the german tank tree in my opinion. Most fun to drive and performe incredibly well. From there on it just goes downhill rapidly. Mainly due to constant uptiering though, which means you face all sorts of post-war and cold-war vehicles, but the main issue at that point becomes the incredibly strong allied CAS lineup though. The axis side usually pushes very strongly in the early game only to be bombed out of existence by the second wave of respawns full of CAS and fighter bombers. In my opinion mixed battles are incredibly poorly designed anyway. They should have dedicated tankers and dedicated pilots rather than a mixed lineup. This would not only mean that you have airplanes up more frequent and straight away and thus having a reason to take out AA more often but would also make matches more interesting overall. I am sure there are tankers that have no interest in flying planes just as there are pilots that don't want to have to drive tanks before they can take out their planes.

Pz IV G and H are my favourite tier 3 tanks. I love the Tiger and Panther but they are big obvious targets and people tend to underestimate the Pz IV's. The G model is my little Tiger and the H is the King tiger of my 4.0 line up and they are fierce killers all the way up to 5.7. I am happy to see the H get the recognition it deserves.

thank you OddBawz for bringing up the fact german players seem to lose their heads expecting that the game will be bias for them. ive noticed for some strange reason the increase in bad germany players in the 3.7-4.7 range as they decide that "i see only the proud german steel here". markers and scoutings don't even seem to register in their heads at all either. they just drive around once they cap a point like they're bots

Yeah, these things were built to 360 no scope T34 and Sherman's from half a goddamn Europe away, and the big problem with German players is that they cannot comprehend playing against an enemy that isn't 3 meters from their face. I remember goi g to the edge of the Hurtegun map, and I absolutely stomped the enemy team, and what's more was that I was completely immune to enemy fire at a that range (800m/1km). They had to get closer to me to knock me out, but I picked them off before they got into range. I only died when I got flanked by some T34s. In total I got like 12 kills doi g that alone, and nearly ran out of ammo as well.

Many German tanks were great. they killed 3-5 tanks for each Russian one--by design (Germany knew they could never outman or outproduce Russia so they had to out tech and out train to make up for their industrial base sucking by comparison). The thing is, in War Thunder the biggest flaws of T-34(etc) don't actually exist. No radio? No cupola? Enjoy third person view and chat. Cramped compartment? Doesn't matter. It's a freakin' video game (an tournament shooter FPS with tanks instead of railguns) so of course it's not going to line up perfectly with reality.

It really is the German teams. The tanks a very good during the WW2 era. They’re not invincible, but their biggest strength is their guns. They are very good as snipers medium to long range.

The only time Germany suffers is with the Tiger 2 H. Considering how much the thing gets up tiered, and how big the repair cost is, it really makes the tank not worth playing. Low Tier Germany basically stomps everything, especially with the 75mm guns

Before i watch this video... I had landlord and he was building German Tanks in a factory in WW2. He was later captured by Russians and run away to US forces near Pilsen in Czech Republic. He had awards and medals from all 3 sides for serving, he never shot a single shot, he was mechanic. He repaired all sides and he told me: US vehicles were crap because of engines, some tanks used old engines taken from aircraft, russian tanks were awesome to repair, nothing fitted without hammer and you could repair them with minimal tools and anywhere. German tanks were miracle in machining but you could not repair a single common issue without special crew and lot of tools. It all started with his visit to check his new family in the house and he noticed i am building models with father and we were building Pz III 1943 and we were painting insides white. He started gigling and told us: Guys i see it is 43, we had no white paint that year it was only basic underlayer brick red. How do you know? I built them he said. He was babysitting me and helping me with painting my tonks for years. :) They were strong but fights were really long range, later on they could not repair vehicles anymore and also they were very outnumbered. Real fight was 2km away where 88 dominated, but no one can tell for sure how it was at close range.

German tanks are only effective when you use them correctly. The reason they were so good in WWII is because the Wehrmacht had special tactics and maneuvers for them. If you drive around, like Odd said, "Driving around with their heads cut off" it is useless. Get in a squad, stay together, and work as a team.

@@celtins6648 it lights the crosshair, its best for night battles at high tier when you have night vision or thermals on. for low tier some people use it in darker environments but eh, youll generally be fine without it.

Panzers, tigers, leopards are all named after predatory stealth cats for a reason people. They might be slow but they are ment for ambush and strategic hunting. Not mass produced cannon fauter like The T-34s. When you play German tanks you are a Jäger.

comment about "only camp" - I would argue the support you provided by preventing moves up past you was more than valuable... plus it is my playstyle so love seeing pro's do similar (but a lot better of course)
