I recall several years ago when I was going out with this fellow who was a machinist/structural steel fitter/welder and he was giving me a tour of his shop and showed me how an optical center punch worked. Brought back a nice memory watching this video. Get that book rebound. The old ones are the best and we have to care for them.

Keith - Shop is really looking good, but I would Strongly Recommend that you put some kind of CLEAR SEALER on those plywood walls. My first home shop had bare plywood walls and after a couple of years the dust in the air had made the walls darken and look grungy (hard to clean as the dirt gets into the wood pores) . Also, if you accidently get Machine Oil or anything else splashed on the wall, it soaks in and makes a permanent STAIN. Ended up sealing & painting my beautiful plywood walls.

Veritas is the design/manufacturing arm of a retail tool outlet up here called Lee Valley Tools, which is our go-to specialty retailer for cool and unique woodworking and gardening tools.

For anyone needing one, that second optical center punch is available from Lee Valley Hardware with the branding Veritas™. Good quality; I have one. Usefully, they have operations in both the US and Canada so no cross-border problems there.

An optical center punch is one of those tools that once I got it, I wondered how I lived without it. The next item to put on your wish list is an optical center for the mill.

dont cut your self short you make some amazing repair and restoration vids. the best was the gas circular saw
@DavanEtelamaki7 жыл бұрын
His may be better restorations, but they also take exponentially longer. With the amount of tools you restore there is no way you could give each that much attention.

You might want to contact your local library book preservation dept. If the book is rare or not archived, they would be very interested in it.

In Keith's defense it's not all roses. Build that building, pour the concrete, install the electrical, put in the plumbing, get the inspections, then take time out of your life to make videos for the education of the general public. On top of that he owned a fair amount of the tools out to the museum and he wanted them home in his own shop, which any one can understand. Not to leave the museum high and dry he started collecting tools so the museum would have a set on site. I have met Keith personally and gave him tools, and after our first meeting I decided he is a man of integrity and gave him some more tools, knowing they will more than likely end up at the museum. You tube pays pennies for those commercials that run on a channel and the add has to run for at least 30 seconds for the content provider to get paid. Ask yourself how many adds have you skipped. Only an independently wealthy person could afford to do this with no outside help. The electric bill alone is enough to show you some pain. In closing Keith Rucker is not a greedy man, he is whats known as a good solid citizen giving back of himself to his community. By the way Keith when I come south this winter I have some more tools for you. RANT OVER
@rodneygibson22377 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that information Douglas. I will let the adds run all the way through for Keith in the future.

Nice haul on the grinding wheels Keith. Shop is looking great. Don't know if you have a fault on your mic but now and then it seems to pickup a booming noise. Hope its not anything serious. Looking forward to some new projects when you get time. regards from the UK

Hm, I was hoping to see some measurements of the surface grinding done earlier. Most comments said it was done wrongly / not accurate and would therefore be interesting to see. Plus it was said it will be done. Anyhow, hopefully you get more time on your hands for some machining :o)

First, those wheels are heavy and fragile, shipping and packing costs alone on a hundred+ would prevent him from just giving them out, he's giving people chances are a really good deal on them. Second, he gives back to us every time he makes a video. you think hes obligated? He's shared so much knowledge, information, entertainment, etc. get your facts right before posting, Third, you cant even type "you" and "your", should you really be judging anyone else?
