Hello Mr. Proper, I have been an admirer of your steam engines for some time, and recently was impressed by your gas engines, and now this video on your Odds' n Ends engine. I completed my version of this engine about three weeks ago producing it in a long distance collaboration with Andrew Whale in the UK. One of the issues both of of us had with our engines was the effectiveness of the set screws holding the keys for the flywheels. These seemed to come loose easily. I noticed you used the same procedure, and wondered if you had experienced any problems with them. Congratulations, after 30 years, on a successful and sweet running engine. Earl Abbott

Hi Earl, I am absolutely having problems with the flywheels coming loose. I have two 6-32 and one 8-32 set screws in each flywheel and they still come loose.

Very nice looking Engine Les. It now runs very well too. Those Viton O-rings seem to be an excellent solution for troublesome model engine Cylinders and Pistons. I'm please to hear that the Maestro also battled to get things running when he started out many years ago.:-)) Thanks for showing this - Paul

Nicely built Les! Did you build in or add a venturi tube in the mixer? I have found that including a venturi will increase the suction from the fuel tank and will make the running overall more dependable. Thanks Fred

Hi Fred, No venturi. I had to go look as I don't remember making the mixer just that I purposely made the mixer out of brass so I could solder the needle valve in the air tube.
