you really can tell how manufacturing has changed over the years comparing many different devices from your videos. with this controller i couldn't believe how hard it was to pull apart!

Try and pull apart a ps5 controller or an elite series 2 lol. Xbox one controllers are relatively easy id say

Yea it's so when you drop it it doesn't fall apart anymore 😅

Some of that is more about how bad the design of this particular product is. A Nintendo Switch Pro controller is a lot easier to disassemble IMO. There are still some soldered parts that I wish were modular like the control sticks, but a lot of the soldered stuff on this xbox controller has detachable ribbon connectors on the Nintendo controller that make disassembly a lot easier. Basically, most modern hardware makers don't bother designing for repairability at all any more. Some still do, but it's becoming rare.
@graphitecoreАй бұрын
@thrillhousevanhouten yeah thats exactly what i meant, it's baffling how much the industry just doesn't care anymore
@777idkineedausernameАй бұрын
It makes manufacturing much cheaper, as it is easier to automate the assembly process. This, they are built with parts meant to quickly go together, and stay together. To put in screws is a human task.

The original Xbox One controller was built different. Thing came out in 2013, and I can still use it well. I bought my wife at least 7 separate Xbox One S controllers over the course of 2 years, all having hardware issues. The quality control really went downhill. Great video, sir.
@vaporyphoenixgaming_5060Ай бұрын
Yea the controllers have been good but I have worn the thumbsticks out of 5 Xbox one controllers. The original controller the A button didn't work anymore from playing gta v a lot lol
@larissamarques1244Ай бұрын
my xbox one S controller (the one that came with the xbox) lasted me 6/7 years and still kinda works but has the X button double clickin so i've bougth the series X controller in january this year, only play on weekends, and for a few hours to be honest. the shi## controller already got bad drifting issues on both analogics making it impossible to even try to wach someting on netflix. My brother also has the One S controller that he got 6 years ago and its working perfectly and he plays like he's about to break it, drops on the floor. his main games are diablo and dark souls and fps games, i mean... dark souls alone is enough to do some damage, but its working like new.

Methinks maybe it's the way the wife is using it. I've a wide range of controllers throughout the years and never had any issues that weren't directly caused by human actions (such as dropping). The most I've had happen is the bumper break - a relatively easy fix

these are great controllers, I've used one for years. the only sucky thing about them is the micro usb port does not handle cable stress well and will become unreliable quickly if you use it mostly wired
@SheaStylesАй бұрын
The newer models fixed that problem with the type c ports
@lovescarguitarАй бұрын
@@SheaStyles I don't believe the USB model type affects cable stress. It's the placement of the cable itself, regardless of type. For example, on my old 360 controller, the micro USB port on it is not recessed. So, the cable has a higher chance of being ruined. On my Nintendo switch controller, the micro USB port is very recessed. So, the port holds/supports the cable infinitely better.

I remember when I got my first Xbox in 2003. It was one of the best Christmas gifts I have ever received at the time. I never had the interest of purchasing an Xbox One, or the newer Xbox consoles after I had my Xbox 360 for almost 17 years. I sold my 360 at a local retro game store back in 2022 because I rarely ever played it. I switched to the PS4 in 2020, but sold it in 2022 as well because I just lost interest in video gaming in general. I may come back and purchase a PS5 someday in the future if timing is just right.
