"slag" is a universal term for the run off waste from mining, it's why in transformers one of the dinosaurs is called slag. However in the UK it also became another slag for "slut". But "slag heap" would have to be a universal term if slag is also universal.

I got a simple theory behind why Phlegg is at such a high position + how he got there. Lots of speculation here though. -How he got there: As the most competent and business-orientated of the Fee-co trio, I think Phlegg is a likely partner of Soulstorm Brew from previous actions. He is undoubtedly their main supplier but is also likely to have advocated for its success. In one of Exoddus' cutscenes, Phlegg is seem directly negotiating with the Mudokens to try the brew until they become sick, and then easily capturing them for slave labour. This almost seems like a demonstration of product to me, a show of good will between Soulstorm and Bonewerkz's partnership. -Why he stays in a high position: Firstly I think Phlegg may have been the one to suggest Necrum Mines as a source of bones for brew. It has likely become his property given the reaction to its loss, a decision that was made due to his direct expansion-focused way of thinking. Additionally going off the state of Bonewerkz I think Phlegg is notoriously cheap and penny-pinching down to personal quarters, favouring manpower over the use of machines wherever possible. In the eyes of all other Glukks, that makes him a low-cost high-efficiency leader, cobbling together gigantic projects with big profits at minimal setup costs. Casualties are likely very high for mudoken and slig-kind due to how shoddily-built and run-down they are, but Glukkons wouldn't consider that an issue.

Finally the Bonewerkz, the factory in which the bones of the mudokons, collected from the necrum are crushed into very small pieces, until they become powder to be dissolved in the brew to give it that deep and velvety taste! This explains those small mounds of yellowish powder that we see in the background, I think they are the crushed bones to be then used for various uses, such as flavoring the brew or creating gunpowder. I have always been fascinated by the fact that the factories are all connected, in fact, in the bonewerkz we can enter wells that take us to secret areas located in the SoulStorm Brewery! Those tunnels maybe serve to connect them, moreover, it is very interesting how you pointed out that the bonewerkz looks like an old hijacked factory, I am not surprised that this is the case, after seeing those crates crashing to the ground, it seems to me normal that the walls and floors are ruined ;) it is not to be excluded the fact that the Bonewerkz was REALLY first another factory, which was then bought by the director Phleg, maybe in that factory they used to make gunpowder lol. I love the personality of Phleg, crazy and sometimes violent just like the bonewerkz, from the character we immediately understand that he is not impressed to break the bones of the Mudokons, the easter eggs on the bonewekz that you pointed out to me in SoulStorm are incredible! I would like to know how much time you spend analyzing the game to notice these details haha! These clues make me realize that maybe the Bonewerkz will be in the next game! I sincerely hope so! :)
@Dustin-Garner2 жыл бұрын
Interesting, Bonewerkz was always my least favorite place in Exoddus due to the blandness. But thank you for this video, you have given me a lot to think about in regards to how that design may be purposeful. One interesting thing I found in the Abe's Origins book (page 229) was all of the original art of Bonewerkz and how it was a bit different from what they finished with. The brick columns and piles of bone dust were still there, but the place had more rectangular columns with a ceiling that made it feel more like an enclosed warehouse rather than a vast open space.

Love these location profiling type of deep dives. I watched one of your others earlier that was also great, the Stockyards I believe, (the spot where Abe pops out in silhouette in Oddysee) you were taking a detailed look and comparing to NNT and deconstructing it, from the colours of the sky to the framing to the music etc, I think that kind of analysis is valuable and fascinating to hear others pov. I could analyse these locations day and night. The Elum video was also one I recently enjoyed.
