Oddworld Lore: Jo' Momma is a video about Jo' Momma and takes a closer look at Oddworld lore from Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath about the mother of outlaws, Jo Mamma which is frequently misspelt like that or as Jo Mama. Oddworld was created by Lorne Lanning who founded Oddworld Inhabitants which has produced many games, Including Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Oddworld: Soulstorm. I find the Oddworld lore fascination and hope to bring the Oddworld universe to life by telling the story of it and it's characters, creatures and locations so that they can be explained and theorised about by delving into Oddworld theory and the lore of the universe of the Oddworld games!

CORRECTION: I was playing the new Stranger's Wrath on current consoles version that came out last month and just got to the Jo' Momma bit and she talks in exactly the same way as the male outlaws lol. No digital modification or anything. So turns out it's not a myth but it confuses me as to what the deal with this is. I checked the original Xbox version as well as the PC version when researching this video and she has a female voice in both so.... maybe it's a regional difference? Not sure, but it's really weird.

Just like the grubb leader, in the ps3 version, she sounds like a female (i never played or seen the xbox and pc, so i can’t tell if she had a female voice or not) but when I played the switch version, she sounds like a male, I don’t know why they changed the voices for both jo’ momma and the grubb leader

Also, I remember getting hit pretty hard by Jo Mamma on several attempts to take her out on my play through of Strangers Wrath iOS. Idk if I still have screenshots of this, but after I’d finally bounties her, stranger had like, fifty or so butchers knifes sticking out of him. Definitely quite a sight…

I think the entire desert setting in Stranger is a result of Sekto Springs. The Clakkerz and the Grubbs likely once lived in harmony until the arrival of Sekto; with water now having a monetary value, the Clakkerz now murder the Grubbs for stealing their water. The Wolvarks are Crocadilian, and were likely faced with a 'join-or-die' scenario when the River was bottled up by the Dam - whilst the Grubbs chose death, the Wolvarks sold out to Sekto and agreed to serve him in order to keep their aquatic habitats - but they've since lost their amphibious instincts and now drown when thrown into the water. In Buzzarton, the local Water Treatment facility is abandoned because there's no water left to treat, and in Gizzard Gulch, Jo Momma's hide-out is on a massive barge - giving an indication as to the speed with which Sekto bottled the Mongo River.

For me, the original Jo Momma spoke in a high pitched female voice. The HD version on the PS3 and PS4 however replaced it with a standard low-pitched voice.

An explanation to your comment at 14:10, I would say the ship was a very large paddle-steamer. That type of boat normally has wheels to help it move through water - these types of boats use to navigate through the rivers of countries like the United States and Australia.

One thing I love about Jo' Mama's design is that to me, she looks like someone (the Stranger perhaps) had the nerve to take one of the Terror Dogs from Ghostbusters (the original, not the remake which does not exist), and then dress it up in a silly outfit while it was still unconscious

The outlaws could split the differents and have a smaller number of females who give birth to large broods of mostly sons with few very females to male population where the men compete till only the best of the best get to mate. There are many real world mammals like this I believe.

interesting facts! I am amazed at your insight into every minute detail of this unusual saga! I really liked how you state how iconic the matriarchal figure is in this universe, the developmental analysis of this grumpy character and disturbing how there are even remains of boats stuck in that area! It's depressing to what extremes desertification can go or the brutality of the outlaws and their rustically violent looting. I already want to see the return of these iconic reptiloids in future installments!

I think Jo'Momma is a mixture of a stereotypical depiction of black mothers/house keepers as well as stereotypical depictions of mothers of italian mobsters and if that's the case that plane white desighn is more fitting for the shoulder cloth.

Playing strangers wrath on the xbox one I've noticed some weird alterations. When a dog creature dies in one of those meat grinding fans it has the death scream of an outlaw, Jo Mama has a male voice, some grass mushroom textures are just blue but idk if that's on purpose or not and the boombats eyes are always looking upwards. I came back to this video because of the jo mama thing with her voice

For a moment I was afraid that OWI, he might take some complaint because of female stereotypes and the fact that being a female boss he could be defeated with his bare hands lol. And also the fact that in the HD version when you hit her you hear a very high-pitched voice like Cippunk, the fact is that it's harder to get rid of the outlaws henchmen than Jo Momma herself, she is also proof that the Outlaws don't have queens like the mudokon, the glukkons and the sligs ...
