EuroPaPa was first published in Arjen Lubach's show on VPRO television, with an interview with Joost Klein. So Arjen was at the very beginning of the EuroPaPa Saga. He is a free, skeptical, humorous critical, showman. He did a nice item on Trump: America first, Netherlands second! Which made him famous! And almost all European, and other, countries made their own version.

''dood-ongelukkig'' or this dead unhappy you heard, is pretty much a term to call someone who is genuinly very sad/unhappy. of course somewhat used as satire in this situation, but he has a point when he says everyone is unhappy (about joost being disqualified, of course)

AVROTROS should have immediatly hired an attorney in Sweden to protest. The EBU should have a neutral organisation to check all decisions made by EBU. The lack of it made this ESC an awfull mess. Not only with what happened to Joost but also with other contestants and journalists who were bullied and intimidated by certain Israeli delegation members. Complaints were filed but no sanctions were taken by EBU.

Means: "I am here with 1400 very unhappy people" It has nothing to do with: dead or that somebody is dead He meant the audience is very, very unhappy (in the Netherlands we say: deadly unhappy, (dood ongelukkig) means very, very unhappy " ongelukkig means: unhappy=> doodongelukkig is a Dutch word.

Well, I think he should make an English version of the song with the same story in the lyrics, but adapted to the whole world. He'll probably make a permanent name for himself internationally that way. Okay, he is already a big deal now, but if the whole world can do the lyrics in an English version as well, then it will have more 'staying power', if you get my point. I don't think that he intends to be famous in that kind of way, but it is the song and its message that could receive an extra boost. And I hope that either version of this track gets an actual single release throughout the world, instead of just a video being watched here.

Yeah, and I might add that if you didn't see that video, look for it here, because it's still on KZbin. He is actually not only the first one doing this 'second' thing, but he also made it into kind of series by getting comedians all over Europe to do the same thing for their country. The voice over you'll hear in all those videos is from the same guy which is not Lubach, by the way, but some American comedian and imitation artist of whom I don't remember the name).

@@williamwilting yeah is hé is the first who made that video its his idea. Other countries copied it. I saw it on air when it came on the first time. He is also the one who applied to be Farao of Nederland. He has a lot of good stuff.

You should pronounce Lubach with a Dutch 'g' like in ongelukkig (unhappy) or the jiddish name 'Micha'. Arjen made the clip 'Holland second' as a reaction on Trumps 'America first'. Overall I enjoyed your podcasts on the festival. Thanks.!
