@viktoriaj.59735 ай бұрын
@@themetalmuse The EBU was very hush-hush about what happened exactly, it wasn't even known whether or not he will perform, his recorded semi-final performance will be shown to the jury, or he will be excluded altogether, almost until the last moment. All that was known was that he "threatened or assaulted" a "female staff member" (they made sure to emphasize the "female" part). After this, it came out that Joost and his delegation asked not to be filmed after coming off stage as it is a very emotional song for him, especially the ending (his parents died when he was a child and he has been battling the trauma from this ever since). Now there was a camerawoman/journalist/TikToker (we don't really know as far as I know) that kept filming people when they were coming off stage and filmed him, too. He asked her to stop, she didn't. Then, as far as we know, he pushed her camera and then she reported this to the EBU and to the police. This is the horrible, horrible deed that Joost did that got him disqualified. Mind you, the legal process is still ongoing and he has not been deemed guilty or innocent yet in front of the law - only the EBU jumped the gun. AvroTros (the Dutch broadcaster) has been considering pulling out of Eurovision altogether. Joost is, thankfully, fighting back and they actually involved further witnesses into the case and it is now international between Sweden an the Netherlands - this is the last information about this for now.

Joost is not a good singer but he's a brilliant artist and performer. He didn't deserve to be disqualified, all fans are sure about that. That's why he wants justice to be done and go back next year. For a few months now his star is rising all around the world. His new fans are learning Dutch to know his lyrics and understand everything he's saying. So cool! Love from The Netherlands.

Joost lost his father when he was 12 and his mother when he was 13. The song is about an orphan trying to run from the pain, going all over Europe but the pain follows him everywhere anyway because you cannot run from what is inside you. He'd watch Eurovision with his parents and would tell them "One day I'll be up there" and they'd say "suuure". He wrote this song to finally try and let go of the pain, fulfil the promise he made and move on. The music is for sure a nod back to the 90's and early 2000's (as are the graphics on the screens, lots of little easter eggs there), to his youth. But happy hardcore is such a subculture here, you can almost call it folk music. So yeah, lots of layers. A fun and happy song with fairly sad lyrics. It's not my style of music, but I like depth in music and this definitely has that.

So if you wanna know what happened, this artist actually got disqualified.The details on why are still unclear since there is a police investigation going on. But this is what has been said so far: For extra info, Joost is an orphan. He lost his parents at 12 years old. When he was a kid, he told his father he will one day be on the Eurovision stage. Since the song is dedicated to his parents, he gets very emotional at the end and requested to NOT be filmed after the performance. Eurovision agreed to this, but somehow someone was still there to film him. He asked multiple times for that person to stop filming, but that person refused. It is unclear what happened after that, some say he pushed her camera away and it broke, others say he said something threatening or made a threatening movement. Some even say the camera person said something rude about his parents. Just to make clear, no one was injured. Avotros (the Dutch Broadcaster sponsoring Eurovision) said he never touched her. Eurovision disqualified him 1 (or was it 2?) days later. Avotros is absolutely furious and says the punishment is waayy too big for what happened. They actually no longer wanted to broadcast the live finals, but they were forced to by the contracts. But everyone else withdraw. For example, when the countries give their points, the spokesperson for the Netherlands refused to do it.

I think I haven't seen anyone else mention the fact that the big sponsor for Eurovision is an Israeli company, so they really do have a big input into what happens in the contest. Joost and other artists (including Bambie and Nemo) were clearly against israel participating, and that made them a target for the israeli team. They would take pictures and film them when, BY CONTRACT, they were NOT ALLOWED TO. The israeli team would post ig stories mocking them and being disrespectful (calling Bambie satanic, knowingly misgendering Nemo, and mocking Joost's parents' death). The people from the israeli broadcaster told people who to vote for based on the artists having shown support to israel or not, and they would also mock artists while performing, which, again, they could not do because it's on the contract. Breaking any of these rules would have led them to disqualification. So the artists complained to the EBU, and they did nothing. After semifinals 2 (which is where Joost, Nemo and israeli contestant participated) there was a press conference with the acts going through to the final, and when they asked the israeli contestant if she considered her being there was dangerous for the other contestants, one of her team told her she didn't have to answer if she didn't want to, and Joost "changelled" that by saying "why not?"(which was kind of fair since everyone else answered their q's), and this led to her having to answer. Next day, news about the "incident" came out, and they said they were investigating. Mind you, the supposed incident happened right after Joost's semifinal performance and the press conference, so all the timings are just suspicious. We don't even know the details of what happened, but AVROTROS said he didn't touch her. Supposedly, he raised his hand to move the camera away after having asked her multiple times to stop filming him because there was an agreement that he wouldn't be filmed after the performance because it was very emotional for him, and the person felt threatened by that. So, we're still very much in the dark about it. But the EBU clearly fckd up because they did nothing regarding the complaints about the israeli delegation, but they supposedly led a thorough investigation on the incident with Joost resulting in his disqualification. Joost was definitely the public's favourite, so I think he would have won (and I'm not saying Nemo isn't the rightful winner, but it was more about Europapa being a banger, yes, but also everyone already loving Joost). So yeah, that's what happened.

Okay so I’m gonna get my trauma off my chest here (I know it’s just a competition but :) As a Dutch guy who loves Eurovision. I think we Dutch people are very very critical when it comes to ourselves, as in Soccer competitions, games and music. Sometimes I feel like we raise the bar super high on certain things. English for example,, So many people think we, they should speak English so well . Even Dutch people among Dutch people can be so critical about their or other’s pronunciation, makes no sense. But my point is.. We Dutch ( okay most of us) usually aren’t super excited about our entry. We can complain a lot and we either hate it. Are neutral. Or in rare cases we absolutely LOVE it. And that’s the passion you refer to; The Dutch , when we believe something or stand for something. There will be an earthquake. ( the “orange “ football supporters for example. If you type in “Dutch fans Germany “ you see what I mean. It’s like an orange invasion of people supporting our nation . It’s just absolutely out of this planet ) You said you’re not in it for drama ❤I love that. So I’m gonna respect that and won’t go into detail about the disqualification. But ( you mentioned hamster wheel, it’s funny I hear myself talking . It’s impossible for me to stay on topic or get the the point or even just make a brief summary of what I mean..) OT: I’m born in 1992. I’m proud Dutch . Proud of our musical history, proud of the things we’ve accomplished and proud of , well. A lot more. I have never in my life been more excited about a Dutch entry than I was about this year’s. The “gabber” the young and extremely talented Joost Klein. I was looking forward to the grand final for months . When I heard (on the day of the grand final) that he was disqualified and that our running order number was just erased from the list. I felt a bit sick. Like, we were wiped from the table and wiped from the planet . Like all the excitement was a beautiful dream but in fact never happened. I don’t like football but now I feel like what it must feel like for some supporters when their favourite club is like. Idk, not qualifying for a tournament. It’s really really not fun. And it got me by surprise that it made me so sad. I couldn’t even listen to the song anymore, for a while. I was just so sick of it. I’m not overreacting this was how I felt . So every time I see someone like you reacting it makes me happy because I realise that we are not , Joost is not wiped from our minds. And it did happen and he was kicking it. Thanks for your reaction ❤

Not much is known for sure about the backstage happenings. I think the most neutral phrasing is that Klein is alleged to have made a member of the backstage tech or production team feel unsafe through either an abrupt verbal or physical action. So basically what the media rumors (so please take this with a grain of salt!) is that after Semifinal performance Joost went backstage and a member of Eurovision production was filming. According to Avrotros (Dutch broadcaster) it was requested (and understood?) that the production would not be allowed to film the artist after the show back stage. After Joost asked to stop filming (which was not done) he had raised his fist towards the production member. According to the Swedish media info there was no physical contact between the artist and camera person, but some media reports say that the camera used for filming was broken. Reason why the no-filming request was made was that this song was a very personal song for Joost and he was in a very emotional state after the song, so Avrotros wanted him to have his peace. As said, don't take this as a fact, because this is only media reporting, but this is the best we have so far. The matter is at this moment with the Swedish prosecutor under consideration. Once a decision is made we might get to know more of the actual facts of what happened.

Hi, sorry late to this one... Joost rhymes with toast & Klein with fine. As i already said on another video, the most "metal"(adjecent) entries this year are Bambie Thug, Gate & Baby Lasagna in the final. And Aiko & Megara who unfortunately stayed in the semi-final. Other interesting entries are(IMHO) Slovenia, Armenia & Portugal. As a Dutchy i got mixed feelings about Europapa. The song & especially the lyrics are awesome. The video is hilarious with so, so, sooo many easter eggs. Quintessential Dutch. But as someone who likes a certain type of music i absolutely hated 'House' growing up, especially Gabber. You simply could not escape that genre in the Netherlands. Even when fleeing into Epica, Delain, Within Temptation etc. So to find myself liking this particular song was a bit weird. The emotional whiplash people get when watching the music video with the switch from happy hardcore to the sad ending... If you still wish to know what the song was about, i copy/paste an explanation beneath this & the channel Overthinking it has a video essay about the song(& a comparison with Britain's Olly Alexander) that's shy of 1 hour. ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ Knowing his background stories (lost both parents at a very young age, got depressed and dedicated this song to his father) and being a Dutch native speaker myself, I thought, why not translate Europapa, explaining the deeper meaning of the song (its my personal take on the song and not verified of course (only Joost knows) but I think it makes a lot of sense. Have a read: --> Welkom in Europa, blijf hier tot ik dood ga (Welcome in Europe, I'll stay here till I die) Welcome in a world without borders, without constraints. I will never let myself be constricted. --> Euro-pa-pa, Euro-pa-pa (Euro-dad-dy, Euro-dad-dy) --> Bezoek m'n friends in France (I visit my friends in France) 'Friends' translated in France is 'Amis' Amis was author of e.g. 'Invasion of the Space Invaders' and 'Money'. Joost didn't visited friends in a country, he identified himself with characters in books. --> Of neem de benen naar Wenen. (or take a walk to Vienna) In Dutch 'de benen nemen' has two meanings. Litterary is means 'to walk', but figuratively it means 'running away' Same counts for 'Wenen'. Translated to English can mean 'the capital of Austria 'Vienna' but can also be translated to 'crying'. So, it can mean 'walk to Vienna' or 'running away to despair' --> Ik wil weg uit Netherlands, maar m'n paspoort is verdwenen (I want to leave the Netherlands, but my passport is gone) I want to run away from my childhood, run away from my pain, but I lost my identity. I don't know who I am anymore, I'm lost. --> Heb gelukkig geen visum nodig om bij je te zijn (I don't need a visa to be with you) There's is nothing what can stop me to be with you, you are in my heart. --> Dus neem de bus naar Polen (So I take the bus to Poland) Besides transportation, a bus is also a conductor. Polen, in Dutch, is the plural of pool. In English poles. So magnetism. With a balance of positive and negative ends. --> of de trein naar Berlijn (or the train to Berlin) First; the Berlin Wall was the symbol of the Cold War and a divided Europe. The fall of the Berlin Wall symbolizes the start of a united Europe. Second; the track 'Friesenjung' of Joost Klein is co-written by his friend, the Berlin rapper Ski Aggu. --> Ik heb geen geld voor Paris, dus gebruik m'n fantasie (I don't have money for Paris, so I use my imagination) Paris is the city of love. But there's no currency in the world that can buy his father back. He only can use his imagination to be reunited with his father --> Heb je een еuro'tje, please? Zеg "merci" en "alsjeblieft" (can you spare a euro, please? Say "merci" en "here you are") Can I have a bit of your wealth, please? In return I will share a bit of my love with you. --> Ik ben echt alles kwijt behalve de tijd (I lost everything, except the time) I lost everything what's important to me (his parents) the only thing that remains is the time he has left in his life, without his father a burden. --> Dus ben elke dag op reis want de wereld is van mij (So I'm travelling every day because the world is mine) He's running, searching, trying to find something. Every day over and over and again in a world where he feels lonely. --> Ich bin in Deutschland, aber ich bin so allein (I'm in Germany, but I'm so alone) The track 'Friesenjung' was a huge hit in Germany. He made it in Germany, but he can't share his successes with the one who is most inportant to him. --> Io sono in Italia, maar toch doet het pijn (I'm in Italy, but it hurts) In his track 'Ome Robert' Joost sings (well actually screams), 'Who are you? I'm a god!'. But even the gods of the Roman empire are not enough to soothen the pain. --> Ben aan het vluchten van mezelf, roep de hele dag om help (I'm running away from myself, call for help the whole day) I don't want to be the person as I am today, don't want to feel the pain anymore. But I can't do this on my own. I need help. Perhaps he asks his dad for help but realizes he is on his own. --> Ja, ik geef zelfs mensen geld, maar d'r is niemand die me helpt (Yes, I even give money to people and organizations, but there's nobody who helps) I need help and I'm willing to share everything I have, but nobody understands my pain, not even the organizations who should have taken care of me. I feel alone and lonely. --> Ik hoef geen escargots, hoef geen fish 'n' chips Hoef geen paella, no, ik weet niet eens echt wat dat is. (I don't need escargots, don't need fish 'n' chips. Don't need paella, no, I'm not even sure what it is) I'm not interested in luxury, not interested in traditions, not interested in exotic places. --> Zet de radio aan, ik hoor Stromae met "Papaoutai" (turn on the radio, I hear Stromae with "Papaoutai") I tune in and hear someone in a similiar situation (Stromae lost his father as well) echoing my thoughts ('Papaoutai' means 'Daddy, where are you?') --> Zal niet stoppen, tot ze zeggen: "Ja, ja, dat doet 'ie goed, ey" (Will not stop until they say: "yeah, yeah, he doing a great job, ey") I'm a insecure and will not stop until I got the confirmation that I'm on the right track. That I'm doing a good job. A tab on the shoulder will do. ------------------------------------ And there you have it. Europapa is a masterpiece....

I would like to ask you to make a reaction to Ukraine's performance at Eurovision 2024 - «Teresa & Maria», I think you should like it. Good luck with your channel, it's really great, I hope you see this comment💗

Joost Klein would not have won, because the jury votes that were actually given based on the semifinal were not that great. The audience votes were also likely to be split between several songs (Croatia, Switzerland, Ireland, etc., and obviously the massive voting campaign for Israel funded by Israeli government). It would have done pretty well though (top 10?).
@rondebruijn11455 ай бұрын
So how do you know the jury vote? Has they been published? If so, where? And as for the votes being, you could make the case that they were split bc the front runner for the public vote was dq?

@@rondebruijn1145Yes, the jury score for Joost Klein would have been 58 or 59 (can't remember exactly). The score was given just in case he performed in the final based on the video of the semifinal performance. It has been mentioned in some analysis videos. It could be ESC Tom or someone like that.

Hate this song to themarrow of my tiniest bones, but because I'm a Dutchman I need to love this excruciating piece of senseless mindless soulless garbage. It's quite a cult overhere. To be fair; It's worse than the Black Death, the Mariana Trench and the Great Famine combined but appreciate your more than brave attempt to listen to this infantile hellscape (There's some Churchill in you :) Bonne courage mon brave femme (I couldn't do it :)

A reaction without knowing the lyrics or at least the language is senseless. This song was sung in at least 5 languages and you didn't even notice; he sang in italian, in german, in dutch, in french and in english and you missed it. I don't understand why people ask youtubers for reactions without giving at first THE WHOLE context and the content of the song (the text but WITHOUT the music and performance, only the text). Because of that you also missed the real meaning of the song of Croatia, even it was actually AN EXTREMELY SAD SONG. I am saying it because I had the same reaction than you as I watched it, but still wondered why people felt so hurt, so I looked for the text, only the text WRITTEN, because although they sang in english, much got lost, and bam! then the metal, the dance, the lady flying in the air, the cat, the cows and horses and the whole Rammstein factor MADE A SENSE. Sadly, we CANNOT infere anything only because of its music, by knowing the text we can know that that song IS A PIECE OF ART. Even the dance...dancing like crazy just to forget... dancing all of the feelings of nostaly OUT of you and hoping the guys from the city also know your dance... but they don't. The boy fades in black... he was all to his family, in the city, he is NOBODY.

Nemo would have won for sure. It felt like it was decided beforehand as although a very good performance and song and deserving winner, it was not a record breaking 12 points performance. Something felt fishy. + you know, first Non Binary artist to win, has a nice woke ring to it. eventho we had Conchita, and so many others that were pretty much representing the same thing, there just was no name for it yet. But Joost would have killed the public vote. With a averag jury vote he would have probably won on any normal year. He is the real winner anyway, His are well over 120M which is more than double of Nemo's. His European tour is the only one that's sold out and he tours in places that are double and triple the capacity of the others. His Instagram went up 1.5M his tiktok went up 3M and his killing it still with streams and youtube views.

Joost's act was the clear favourite among the more devoted fans (which I say with the most lenient definition) But overall Nemo would've probably done better, As Joost's act is built around the discrepancies between the visuals and the lyrics, Which doesn't really work if people don't understand what you are saying. While Nemo's performance was more theatrical, Which tends to do well regardless.
