Ode to Joy by Gert van Hoef (Hauptwerk Organ)

Fantasy on "Ode to Joy" arranged by Gert van Hoef. The tune is from Beethoven's 9th symphony.

This was performed on the Bovenkerk Hinsz virtual instrument for Hauptwerk. Gert made a recording of this on the actual Bovenkerk organ, which isn't currently on KZbin. I aimed for 100% accuracy to his registrations in that recording since I'm using the virtual version of that instrument. I did a very long, detailed analysis of that video, right down to watching shadows cast by the drawknobs to get the exact registrations, which I've uploaded here: gist.github.com/subn3t/bc939f...

I love what Gert did with this. He took a tried and true theme from Beethoven that we have all heard many times over the years, whether at the symphony, in church hymns, in TV commercials, or elsewhere, and put his own new, lively, and joyful spin on it. Rob, you look so happy playing it, which is what I think this piece is supposed to do. And I respect your effort to stay true to Gert's registrations and interpretation. Gert and Rob are definitely two of my favorite organists. I love that both of them interpret pieces with musicality. Playing music is more than just playing notes. It is feeling the pulse, flow, phrasing, and theme of the music and bringing it to life for the audience. Rob and Gert both do that so well. Thank you for posting this, sir!

When I was a kid I've always wanted to be an Organist. I was always watching great organists performing here and because of that I gained courage to study and learn how to play the organ. Then I was given a Chance to be taught by our senior organist in our Church. Now she retires from being an organist and I am now an organist and also teaching children how to play the organ for free for God's sake!. I love playing the organ it so powerful and a God given talent...

Could you make a video on where to find the components for as virtual organ. I've been to Milan Digital and found the Hauptwerk digital organ options. I can't find a site that has the pedals, keyboards, bench etc. Can you give an idea of what the cost is so that anyone interested can have an idea if it's too costly to pursue. You're back! I just want to know, what kind of camera and microphone do you use, and who is responsible for the great angles! Keep it up.

Camera is a Sony A7 III, and the only time I used a microphone was for the first 5s of the video. That was the mic built into the camera, and I think I'll need to find a better solution for next video. I had a couple of friends help out with the shots with motion, and I did all the stationary ones. Glad you liked it!
