Could you please make Iron Man's Helmet out of foam?
@thateverettguy29914 жыл бұрын
By the way I tried to do this and it sounds really fun and easy but it is not. It is extremely hard to make the curves even slightly correct. If you really want to do this, find some pepecura files and cut them out with 6mm craft foam. Glue them together with contact cement and seal the foam with elmers glue, mod podge, or even plasti-dip if you really want to but I don’t recommend it because it won’t have the same rigidity and won’t be as shiny. Paint it with you spray paint and be slightly disappointed because it probably won’t ever turn out looking just right. I know that this probably won’t be accessible to the open public but 3D printing or resin casting are probably the best way to go for this project. Whatever you decide to do or don’t do, good luck

Odin, a really neat trick I learned from a guy I used to work for at a body shop: If you want a quick and easy "wood grain" paint effect, try painting a white base coat over something, and then use a wood color of your choice over the top of it. Then, while the paint is still wet, LIGHTLY take long wiping strokes with some type of coarse steel wool or scotch brite pad. This will leave lines in the wet paint that allow the white to show through and give a wood grain effect. It may take some practice and experimenting with different wood colors and abrasives to get it just right, but the effect is amazing once you perfect it! Due to the nature of it, not only does it give the color and pattern of wood grain, but the texture as well.

Hey Odin, a good way to get rid of the fuzzy parts of the foam after sanding is to hit it with a heat gun. The head gun will seal the cells of the foam and singe off the fuzzy parts too. After that. then plastidip it and paint. That will get an even better seal on the foam.

Sanding down some hardwood or a piece of metal (blowing down the grit after) will soften up your belt sander belt in a pinch where you need a lower grit and don't have it. Metal works best as long as you hit it with air to clear it after.

tannerdler surprised you didn't get kept out because of the edge on you lmao. Most dont care if it's made of metal, only if it's sharp; the flip side is anything with an angle is pointed, and if made of metal most likely dangerous. Even your garbage show steel katana can run someone through with a stab.

Odin, if you want an idea for an eclipse-themed prop (in reference to the upcoming solar eclipse), you could make a little Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors. You could do the small version from the beginning of the movie that fits into the coffee can (At least, I imagine you wouldn't want to do Audrey II once it's fully grown!). For anyone who doesn't understand the reference, Audrey II first appears during a total eclipse of the sun.
