Can we appreciate that this man literally built an entire Mauser C-96 from scratch and then build Solo's DL-44 onto that.

It is amazing how someone with a none block buster movie budget can make a movie level quality prop. It goes to show you, "You don't always need a big budget to make a movie level prop or effects." Sometimes you just need to have the right people, not half-assing at their job, and know what they are doing, or at least does critical thinking what material could result with something at a professional level movie prop and how to put it together.

If you have fun, is it truly a fail? there's a toy Mauser c96 on Amazon for like $14, and it's the right size. Just start with that instead!
@isaiahhatcher59847 жыл бұрын
Odin Makes I didn't think about using a mauser! Didn't they use something like that for the real prop? I know for Luke's lightsaber it was a graflex and Obi Wan had a bunch if grenade parts.

Congrats, you pulled a very convincing scratch build. Nice weathering too. The only part i would to repaint is the silver nozzle that doesnt look as good. Instead of silver paint, i'd try to use Rub n' Buff over a dark basecoat and somd acrylic inks for weathering afterward.

If anyone is wondering ( if you somehow didn't know) the base gun is a mouser c96 and also @odinmakes this prop is awesome and the way you designed it would allow easy modifications to make any of the 15ish different blasters that are supposed to be the dl44 Such as the hero blaster ( what you made) The cantina gun Or the blasters from empire and jedi

Nice one! Here's a hint: you can use plastic from a CD for scope lenses. It gives a great anti-glare effect and looks like a real deal. Using exacto/utility-knife split a CD in half and cut out lenses out of the transparent bottom layer (the one that protects the metal layer in the middle).

There are full-size plastic Mauser replicas that fire (*barely*) rubber bullets available on Amazon for about $10-$12 with Prime shipping (they come in bright blue or yellow). These would make an awesome jump start on building a fairly decent replica of Solo's DL-44. I have ordered one myself, and hope to combine parts from that with the Rubie's Han Solo blaster and a custom-made scope to make my own.
