12 step person here, at the core of this disease is the thinking aspect and this man covered it perfectly. We just dont feel good enough, seeking outside of ourselves to fix this... People, places and things, for the grace of god I am sober today, but have to do daily work on myself to set my head right....This talk I shall come back to again...

Acceptance is the answer to ALL my problems today. I love his depth and perspective on this very crucial part of recovery. Everything we need is inside of us. When we accept where and what people, places and things may be we find peace. Since covid I have been living on these KZbin leads and am finding so much wisdom! God bless!

I needed to hear this, badly. Thank you Tom. I'm sober for 2 months today, going to my small AA group meetings regularly . Acceptance is the key 🔑 Step 1. I am powerless over alcohol and it's Gods love, grace and mercy that is saving me, one day at a time. Not just God, but I have to work at it too.

Best advice I ever heard on acceptance, especially the part about accepting myself! The paradox of being able to change is to accept yourself, first. Thank you for sharing!!

The concept of looking for similarities not differences completely changed my attitude and desire to attend meetings with people I thought were different than me.

Dorothy Day asked, “Why do we expect any happiness?” Good question! Why indeed. I bitch and moan about the state of the average American as being only interested in what brings comfort and convenience, but I’m in the same club. I complain mightily when God says, “Don’t get too comfortable. You’re really not meant to be here forever. But while you are here, rejoice at what is in front of you. Just don’t expect it to stay, because it won’t.” Fucking paradoxes. And mysteries. “Get comfortable with not knowing, and then you’ll be joyful,” He says. Seriously? Yep. That’s it. “God wills us for the present moment. We must take it with a joyful will at least.”
