Hi Greg. I agree with both Israel Oliveira and Benhamida Mustapha regarding how to setup multiple domains on the same Odoo Community installation with nginx and SSL. Can't wait to be able to view that video. I appreciate your work and your willingness to share so much! Happy New Year 2022!

Hi Greg, thanks for sharing. I'm curious how to setting the nameServer on the site where I bought the domain name. The reason why I asked is that I have done the setting, but my Odoo site still takes forever to load, so I wonder if I wrongly did the nameServer setting. Would you be able to share that?

Been looking for tutorials like this. Yours are the best! Can you do a video on how to solve issues when users can't hear each other during a call and there's a tiny ⚠️ on the top right corner of the users avatar. Thanks! Keep it up!

how do i add custom addons, i get an error when i install it.
@OdooclassVideos
@OdooclassVideos 2 жыл бұрын
You add custom add-ons by creating a folder to hold them (with the correct permissions of course), and then adding that folder to the --addons-path switch when starting Odoo. It would be impossible for me to troubleshoot your error without more information.

Thanks for the informative & very rare tutorial on KZbin yet the stark is basically open source- Odoo, Ubuntu , AWS freer-tier. I would appreciate if you could help make a tutorial on installing and managing different Odoo instances in different docker containers using Docker. Odoo installation with seems to lessen on the back-end laborious configuration work. Am particularly interested in creating , uploading custom-addons/OCA modules folder using docker volumes. Thank you for giving to the community..👋👋👋👋

Thank you so much. Docker is an amazing tool and I work a lot with it. I'll try and get some videos together to explain how I use it regarding Odoo. One of the things you somewhat eluded to make docker a bit cumbersome for development work unless you are pretty skilled at Docker configuration. As I work with many different companies many which don't have that internal Docker knowledge it makes it more difficult to use as my core developer workflow. Thanks again!

Hi Greg, can you do a video on best practices (and perhaps a demo) for upgrading the base code, database and custom developed modules, between major version releases of Odoo community? I'm currently on Odoo 12 and have invested A LOT of time and money on custom modules (as well as 3rd party ones from the app store) and was wondering if there is a best way to upgrade to v14 or 15, on a single existing server (Ubuntu 18.04) and not needing to recreate a brand new server install?

That is a very good suggestion. Upgrading community is perhaps one of the biggest challenges for people who have chosen not to go with Enterprise. To give you an idea of the complexity, Odoo SA will typically take about 4-5 months for them to write the conversion scripts and begin updating databases. I had been told a few years back they had approximately 25 full time developers on the task. Now naturally they need to cover every application and many many edge cases, but it is still a very complex task. Most of the time we would use OpenUpgrade github.com/OCA/OpenUpgrade as it is as far as I'm aware of the best scripts available for community. I've used it many times myself. It has its own learning curve and about half the time we would end up importing data rather than migrating a database because of instability and wack-a-mole errors that you must fight through.

@@OdooclassVideos perhaps you could do an intro/demo to the OpenUpgrade process, what parts of Odoo it actually "upgrades" (from what I understand, it only does the database and core modules) and maybe how to install/set it up to the point of ready to start the upgrade (or however much you'd like to include in a free youtube video!) Feel free to put a full migration/upgrade course on odooclass/mastering odoo development :)

Hello Sir, I would like to see a video tutorial on how to create a report in Odoo12 based on LibreOffice template (odt, ods) using Py3o Report Engine from the OCA. Thank u in advance.
@OdooclassVideos
@OdooclassVideos 3 жыл бұрын
Greetings! Well i would consider doing something like that but it would not have a great value to the Odoo community as a whole if it were for a version so far back as odoo 12. I worked on some projects delivering reports using a stack like that 5 or 6 years ago and it was a rather brutal experience. I was attracted to having a report tool that was more visual to build the reports. But the limitations and workarounds made it more tedious in the end and so when qweb was adopted it just made life easier. The OCA Py3o report engine hasn't been upgraded that I can see and is still stuck back in Odoo 12. I was looking into re-assessing that reporting flow but to see it has not been upgraded through the latest versions of Odoo is discouraging. That would be concerning for any future deployments as I can't see them going back now and doing Odoo 13, Odoo 14, Odoo 15, etc. to get that library caught up. Qweb has been the go to for a while. I'd be cautious about putting a lot of time and resource into tools that have been essentially pushed aside in favor of other tools by the overall community.

@@OdooclassVideos Thank you Sir for taking the time to explain your perspective and share your experience with reporting tools. I think what you said makes a lot of sense, I will try to focus on QWeb as you suggested, however, if there are any techniques or tools that help make the reporting experience easier, please do not hesitate to share them with us. Greetings.
