What I love about your videos, Dr Mike, is how you repeat the things you've discussed in previous videos, without telling us to watch those videos beforehand like most other KZbinrs tend to. Instead you explain everything necessary and it all makes sense so easily. Great video as always.

I have a BS degree in biology. I wish this type of video had been available in 2003! your clear baseline explanations would have helped so many of my classmates understand the physiology material at the beginning, reducing the struggle with the more intense points late in the semester. I dont get to use my degree in my current life, and these videos are great refreshers and are giving me ways to help some educationally disadvantaged members of the community.

I love that you dont refer to other videos to learn about a certain aspect. You literally just explain that aspects relevance in the current video. Thumbs up! also... I am mature age student (40) with zero science background. You can imagine the overwhelm when I began my Human Biology undergrad. Text books are great. But you consolidate and keep things simple.. almost like "human bio for dummies". You are an absolute gem my fellow aussie! always my first go to for A&P. Thank you over and over again!

God Bless you for this !!! Granted i have had hypertension and high blood pressure in which i have under total control now, I got a new place in florida where the humidity is at an " insane " 95% average, I also have asthma, which makes it even worst to deal with,. and certainly makes it look like a " heart issue " I am writing this to everyone " who knows it isn't your heart ", Trust your gut, the damn doctors there tried to treat me like a " fancy guinea pig " from NYC. I just turned 40, i skate, i practice mma, i work 72 shifts without a problem, Trust me, and i mean trust me, ALWAYS trust your gut and get a second opinion, You would be surprised, how far some would go just to get a extra " cardiology patient to brag about ". I took every test, which was conclusive to cardiology issues, with a resounding " negative ", they literally tried to convince me to shove a camera to " take a look at my heart ", when there was nothing wrong with it. I knew something was up, when they ignored all my request for a " respiratory specialist " and thanks to this video, everything is explained in a nutshell. I am not encouraging anyone to ignore medical advice, However i am saying don't ignore your better Judgment Either.

Thank you. I now realize that Edema is seriously complicated, and hard to explain, without more testing. My doctor's only recommendation is to walk more and wear support hose. This all happened within a week or two. What I really need is a time machine. Meanwhile I am in constant pain from my legs and feet.

Ive got a challenge for you!! I have pitting edema in my legs (mid shins and ankles). I’m a healthy person. I don’t have high body fat. I have visible abs. I run 15-20 miles a week. (Newish to running consistently) although all my jobs have required me to be in good running shape. but I’ve been lifting weights and running stairs for years. I’m a firefighter and was in the military before that. In the fire service we get hooked up to a treadmill every year to see if our heart is healthy (no abnormalities), I do have low BUN and high creatinine levels but I’m 6’7 260lbs and carry a lot of muscle so the break down of muscle causes the elevated level. No proteins in my urinalysis. I’ve got an ultrasound and MRI with dye done and my kidneys look normal. Out of all those reasons you stated I don’t really fall into those categories… or at least I dont think so due to blood work. I also have normal blood pressure. Sometimes it creeps to 140/70 but usually 120-130/65-75 If it was my heart you would think I’d have trouble breathing while running. I donate blood to keep my blood levels in range. I eat a healthy diet. I might consume too much sodium but is that really going to cause pitting edema? I’m not looking for medical advice and I do have doctor appointments scheduled. So any information you give me I WILL NOT take that as medical advice. I’m just curious on your thoughts. I will of course go to my doctor’s appointments and listen to them. I’m in the medical field as an EMT (barely the medical field lol) and work with paramedics. but I’ve only seen pitting edema with CHF and in extremely overweight individuals in poor health. So it baffles me that I’m experiencing this. Any thoughts would be appreciated. It’s a 2 year old video but hopefully you still see this. ❤ thank you! 🙏
