Does no one know these are all volunteers? By no means professional, they're giving their free time to record these to give everyone a free audiobook. There is no need to insult them on every thing. There's a lot of things that aren't perfect by any means, yes. But come on, it's free, at least be happy about that.

Big thank you to the volunteers who took the time to record and produce this audio. As a student with learning disabilities, I am extremely grateful to have something to listen and follow along to, rather than struggle with comprehending the unfamiliar speech patterns and ancient vernacular. Thank you for the reading of oedipus. It was a different version than the one i own, but it helped me focus as I read. Also i enjoyed the chorus's echo effect, though i feel it would have been better for the oracle as they spoke for the gods and would have done well to sound more ephemoral. Still great production

I’m a finance major.. yet somehow I find myself here; reading oedipus for the second time in my life. But this time without the cushion of the “normal human being talk” translations. I typically am proud of my sharp vocabulary skills but old timey play talk just baffles me. Trying to read it on my own it just comes out senseless word vomit. But reading alongside this audio, I have a much better grasp of what I am reading. So thank you so much for this recording. It seems petty for me to voice this gripe, but still, I must ask. Why on earth must the chorus be read in an impossible to understand echoing ear rape?
@TeenStoryTime3 жыл бұрын

@ghost-yg4ky3 жыл бұрын
did the translation do it justice?
@giapwnezikh.omeleta3 жыл бұрын
@@ghost-yg4ky the meaning is ok in english, but in ancient greek there were specific words that the sound of them made you feel how the writer intended you to feel...like the often usage of the letter "T" made you subconciously follow a certain rhythm and be scared of what will happen...anyway...

@valkyriesardo2782 жыл бұрын
I am glad to hear it confirmed this is an amateur production. I find the novice talent is too much of a distraction from the writer's work. The older gentleman reads in a sing-song voice. It was a bad idea to add an echo distortion to the child's voice. I will hope to discover some other recording that is read in more conversational tones.
