If you've resisted 1/24 scale RC crawlers so far, the AX24 may test your resolve. This little machine is super easy to use, very capable out of the box, and best of all, just plain fun! I like 24th scale crawlers already and even so, this little thing has surprised me at how fun it is.

glad to hear you've been filming all day.. sitting here with 3 cracked vertebra n a cracked shoulder blade 5 staples in my head.. i am going to have a lot of free time before I'm good enough to get a truck out for a rip... seems a sweet little setup.. but I've settled on my final rig.. the end uro trailwalker black edition.. it's the Sendero HD with a body I really gonna love.... glad I took my time picking what really wanted...

yeah for what happened it couldn't have happened any better.. it kept going and rolled off me n not pinning me or i wouldn't be here.. everything is intact n in line.. if im a good boy it will heal without need of any corrective surgery's.. so thsts the goal.... was cutting apart a 963 caterpillar bulldozer n the entire hinged cab dropped from waist height.n rolled over me... I'm not 21 anymore.. been chased many times this one caught me...

I have one of these, got it right when it came out (here in the US). I've already put in a Furitek micro Komodo and Lizard ESC, upgraded to sticker tires with metal wheels, lots of brass, and new servos. I had to trim away a LOT of the chassis to make the motor fit, and the stock battery no longer fits; I switched to a tiny 300mah battery from one of my RC planes; it fits in there perfectly. And the rear steer now works off of my Flysky GT5. Downside -- first time I tried driving it, it went about 18" and then snapped the rear driveshaft pin. Now I'm upgrading them to metal ones from Injora.

Very good. I've been careful during my upgrades to ensure everything stays smooth. I'm pretty happy with it now, though I've stuck with simply a high turn longer brushed can for now. Brilliant rigs aren't they

I have plans do dial in my friends sons Axial - AX24 XC-1 crawler. I plan to use 51mm aluminum shocks, use an adjustable upper link mount to move the upper links 8mm higher than the lower links at the axle mounts to get rid of the torque steer (pro tip for other vehicles also), install a custom made 150 motor from a friend who builds crawler motors for 1/24 to 1/8 scale crawlers, & finally add a set of 1" beadlock rims & a set of JConcepts - 1" Rupure tires & call it good. No need for extra weight & I never recommend adding weight to any crawler rig, if anything I try to reduce the weight instead.

Thanks for the great review! I echo your statement that driving these mini crawlers is like a chess match. It takes a lot of observation and planning to get the mini crawlers to go to the places that I hike and I'm find that challenge extremely enjoyable. I'm really digging the tiny trucks! Take care!!

I enjoyed your analysis and run. I think you demonstrated it's positives and areas needed for improvement. But, as you said. it was fun. I know nothing about crawling but this servos are working hard. You mentioned the channel, Cape Crawlers, he is very knowledgeable.

It's a good little machine, this, yes! I've replaced the rear servo with a strong unit, along with a bunch of performance mods. It's more capable again now, but I don't think it'll exceed the fun of how it was in stock form. It's just a brilliant little thing!

Great review. If you can get any MOFO RC parts I recommend getting the 050 Torque beast.

Great little truck, but at £170 in the UK, it's expensive. Then add the inevitable upgrades, and you're talking 1/10 scale money. I bought my kids a HBX Devastator each, during lockdown. My son's still uses his, and that's got 4ws, and cost me about £70. All it's had done, is binning the truly terrible stock tyres, and put some Micky Thompson Baja Claws on it, and a little weight on the wheels, and it's transformed it. So much fun. Great 1/24 course to test it out on. 😎👍🏻

Yeah these things aren't cheap, but they are certainly hobby grade. I question whether you'll hit 1/10 money but it does add up, nonetheless. The HBX sounds like it's delivered on value, at any rate! Cheers

@@RCTNT please don't think that was a criticism, and I'm as guilty as the next man, of throwing money at these things. I have an SCX24 that I bought a couple of years ago, and I have spent loads on it, trying to get it to perform better. Tyres, shocks, motor, hubs, links..... the list goes on and on. But, I love it (my wife might not if she finds out, but that's another story!! 😆) I sometimes think now, that less is more, so I have to stop myself buying stuff for buying it's sake, and just enjoy the cars for what they are, and only upgrade if it breaks, or is really bad!! 😉👍🏻

I didn't take it as criticism, but Rob, criticism is welcome. We're all learning here. And as far as keeping things basic, I drove my SCX10.3 JLU to second place this morning at ECCF (and I was only behind #1 by 6 points, -269 to my - 263) and I've only added front weight and heavier wheels. That's it for upgrades! If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

Great vid! I really want one of these but I'd just bought an SC24 about a week before these came out. Motor is an 030 size, I think you might have said 130 a couple of times. Mofo RC has some nice 030 and 050 motors that bolt right up but you might need to trim some plastics with the 050s

Yo Craig! I just got a vid done on what to do to these lil rigs to make em 1000x better then stock. Just some shock remounting, strapping with elastic bands in the right spot, and some heavier wheels. Thing is amazing after that!! Its unreal what its like before and after. :) Stock this thing is a nightmare and can barely get over tiny lil rocks without flipping/rolling. EDIT: Be careful with that power button too, mines already broke and it rolling around in the remote. :( 8days after getting it.

Thanks, glad you're enjoying yours (apart from the radio button!). I've extensively modified mine at this point too, it's a fun little machine. I filmed this video a month ago and have been playing with the car since then. It's one of my favourite little rigs, such fun!

I don't really have one planned, but I definitely could make it. I've upgraded the servos, motor, wheels, tires, axle ends/weights. That's really it, though it's made a difference. Honestly, even in stock form this car is exceptionally good. I could go over what I've done if there's interest though, sure.
