Is this magic? You just explained the same concept my professor explained, but he took an hour and you took only 4 mins. I am thoroughly impressed.

I'm actually kind of emotional/angry over the time wasted through my 'plain english' course material to explain this concept 10% as well as Sunny, a man with a self proclaimed 'Chinglish Accent' I don't know, maybe they need to start writing textbooks with 'Chinglish Accents'

Hi Mr.Sunny, I am a Chinese student, I found this video fascinating, clear and concise. However, with Chinese network condition, students in China couldn’t log in or access to www.youtube.com, I really want to bring this video to www.bilibili.com, a Chinese like-youtube website, so that more Chinese students could see it and I believe it will totally help them understand this part of knowledge. I will note the origin source of the video and it won’t be used as any commercial application.

@thomasmaughan4798 Жыл бұрын
It would help if your charts indicated the axis. Combining three sine wave signals that are in the time domain into a single chart that appears to be in the frequency domain is not obvious how that happened. It seems to be missing an explanation of modulating a carrier with a sine wave produces sidebands. A steady modulation produces exactly two, well defined sidebands above and below the carrier. But modulating the modulator signal, either by changing phase or frequency, creates a complex family of sidebands and when all these sidebands mix in the receiver, the original modulation is reconstructed. So you cannot just eliminate these sidebands. What you want to avoid is placing a sideband smack dab in the middle of an adjacent subcarrier. As it happens, these sidebands are predictable as to frequency separation in the frequency domain. The sideband spacing (in the frequency domain) is dependent upon the symbol rate. So, if the subcarrier frequency is an integral multiple of the symbol rate, the sidebands will line up and so will their nulls (in the frequency domain). In the time domain it is nearly white noise after many subcarriers are created and summed. At the receiver, the entire passband (now in the time domain) is fed into FFT and out pops the coefficients (sine, cosine) reconstructing the many subcarriers and now in the frequency domain. These can then be separated out from each other and further processed to recover the specific modulation technique used. Or so it seems to me. The importance of orthogonality is that the reconstructed subcarriers will have nothing of their immediate neighbors sidebands; but might still have much weaker more distant sidebands that can be ignored (below a threshold).
