So part of the reason why the populations are so big in Hawaii are because there's only one, maybe 2 islands that allow public hunts where we apply for tags and there is a season. The areas and times are so limited that there are not enough hunters to keep the population in check. Private land hunts are available with no tag limits or seasons like you said but they cost significantly more than public hunts. And if you've been to Hawaii you know how much it costs to live here so many of us can't foot the cost of a private hunt. My hope is that the state opens up the areas and seasons available to hunt to keep the herds in check and the land from being overrun like on other islands. I really do hope they open up more hunting on the islands as I love hunting and I wish more people here did too 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

I spent 3 years in HI while in the army, saw every island at one time or another but only ever saw a deer on Molokai. Never got the chance to hunt there but damn it brings back some memories watching you dive into those gulches. Growing up in the Salmon River country of Idaho I know all about steep nasty terrain, but HI has some of the worst in those gulches. Looking forward to more of these videos.

@@gethushin just keep in mind unlike the states and I know there's monster axis up there but I guarantee that our axis taste alot better not only because of the aloha and the mana that they have but they are totally FREE RANGE and not on someone's high fence property. Haha where they probably feed them with some Big n J...Haha jk....but for a deer to get to 34in is a long lived Big boy...they don't get big by being dumb...you had the opportunity that most people would never imagine the beauty and Hawaiis kept secrets...mahalos to your host for having you and mahalos to you for video's that show that axis is a animal that you really earn your keep and not just treestand it...I look forward for your video's on axis on the other islands like molokai and lanai..and see how different they are from Maui deer..that will be one to watch...all deer on all islands are different and a good challenge for a hunter ...much alohas

I feel like you’re giving people the wrong impression of hunting on Maui. Must be nice hunt behind a fence where there’s no one to compete with. All the power to you if that’s what you like to do, but videos like this draw more people to what little public ground there is expecting to find hunting experiences like the ones in this video and that is simply not the case.

What happened? HUSHIN used to be DIY public land hunting. Due diligence, and putting in the work. Why did you decide to pay big time guides? Why you all hunting high fence now? You basically turned a great channel, with hard nosed, over the counter, DIY hunting into what everyone else is doing. Follow the money. LAME. Go back to your roots, please?

Couple things Jimx 1. On top of our regular general season, OTC, public land DIY hunts we’ve been lucky enough to hunt new species in new places. They haven’t replaced our regular hunts, they’re just in addition to. 2. We didn’t pay any guide, we rarely have. This is simply hunting with your buddy who has private land, no high fences. 3.
