It was really under rated. I played when it first came out as am 30 Years old, so nostalgia hit. I had to double check the name of the voice actor because I was only half sure it was him (from the name, the voice was obviously perfect) but if he also got to speak to him at all, then I am quite jelous.

I consider "secrets" in this series as "hidden cool things that only a few people know about" rather than "something intentionally left to be discovered". I mean, it's super awesome when the latter come up, but Boundary Break is more about childlike wonder and curiosity about how games work. Either you like it or you don't, but I consider things like "Vileplume really was sleeping the entire time" to be pretty cool secrets...or just pretty cool 8P

the reason for the black cubes behind the monitors is because it avoids Z-fighting. you know, when two surfaces are too close toghether and they start to flicker between themselves. this is caused because the depth calculation algorithm (Z-buffer or newer approaches) isn't precise enough to consistently draw the surface that's supposed to be on top, well, on top. The N64 normally uses a 16-bit per pixel Z-buffer, I think, which means that, from the point of view to the drawing distance limit there can only be 65536 discrete distances. The conditions of a scene can cause 2 very close surfaces to have different distance values for their on-screen pixels from one frame to the next, thus causing the flickering effect. you can implement some sort of bias for the z values of a particular surface, but that can also cause it to draw in front of other surfaces that are actually closer to the camera, It can get a bit messy. anyway, yes, the most probable cause for the monitors being in a box is as a surefire method to avoid z-fighting

Thank you for doing this video, Shesez! Pokemon Snap is a big favourite of mine, so I have a few follow-up questions I hope you can answer: 1. In the beach level, is Scyther in the bushes just a frozen model until you hit it with an apple or a Pester Ball? What about the two Pikachus that appear afterwards? 2. Does Chansey have the same reduced size of limbs as Vileplume does? 3. In the tunnel stage, is the Haunter just an invisible model with a glowing orb inside it? 4. In the volcano stage, are Growlithe and Arcanine already there, or do they only (and randomly) generate when you throw stuff into the lava? And is this how water Pokémon appear in the water as well?
