The great fairies in this game definitely gave me mermaid vibes all around. From the flower petal design one them that also resembles scales (at least imo) to the fact that they are physically immersed in the water of their fountains this time. Whenever they'd go back down, I always noticed it looked like the section of their bodies under their hips looked like it went into a tail, not legs. Maybe they didn't add the fins because they simply used the general detail-lacking shape of the tail to work with as a base to animate from, knowing they'd never actually come out of the water fully. So no point in actually making detailed fins at the end of the tail. Alas, we get the "slug tail". BUT, I'm sure it could also mean that their bodies are supposed to be the stamen of the flower they live in of course... but it could be a mixture of themes, design concept wise! lol. One can imagine. With the great fairies always having different forms in various games & usually being water based creatures, I think the idea of a classic magical mermaid-esque design fits them very well! I'd love to see that fleshed out more directly in the future. I have always loved the great fairies as characters & their theme song. It would be really cool if they did a game that gave them some more rich lore & a really large/integral part of the actual story, since they are pretty crucial game-play wise in most LOZ games in some way or another.

12:15 Someone should draw a map of BotW Hyrule connecting Holodrum and labrynna, considering the "Out of Bounds" areas to be a part of them. The southwest corner of the map would continue as a desert and eventually it would become the Samasa Desert from Holodrum, considering the Samasa desert is connected to the sea, and so is Gerudo desert, so the connection there is very likely. Labrynna could be the land to the east, or a completely different country entirely. Am I the only one who wants to see a world map?

@@anusman7235 What if the water being one object made caves harder to happen in BOTW?any water above you would fuck up any cave bellow it)?
@asimpleman26114 жыл бұрын
The actual reason is due to an engine issue, the map can only provide the water with one cubemap, which is used for the sun and the sky, this also why the water doesn't actually reflect anything near it. many other engines have this issue like source and quake engine. If they had the water separate only one of them would have a cubemap, meaning it could not reflect anything.
@cupajoe994 жыл бұрын
@@asimpleman2611 Thanks for the explanation. I just assumed it had something to do with development efficiency? Like they felt that they could be more productive or creative with world design by having the water already on a "canvas," so to speak. That was just my first theory, lol. So it's cool to know there was a good technical reason

+Sierra Gonzales Thank you for being awesome and mentioning my favorite childhood game! Please Shesez, do a boundary-break for Spongebob Squarepants Battle for bikini bottom. Honestly, Battle for bikini bottom could give a lot of other good 3D platformers a run for their money. I went back and played it this summer, It just holds up really well.

I love this series as it's really interesting to watch to understand how the games are made. You get an idea of what the devs intented, what ideas they had and how they solved different problems. One thing about Breath of the Wild I really thought was strange, was the water-stuff. To have an animated ocean beneath the map and collumns of water rising up to make lakes and rivers..? Really weird. Don't think I've ever seen that in a game before.
@mictony9992 жыл бұрын
they made that so they could easily make water bodies. It also served them great cause botw has this feature where when it rains, the puddles on the ground gets filled up and then evaporates after, so its just a matter of raising up the water level when it's raining.

Forgot to add the dark forest/ruins where you can only rely on torches because its pitch black. Maybe you could do a part 2 for this? Can you also add the small part of land wherein it's a floor but it becomes a water with a lava when you jump only on that same spot? I only knew that one because of the "More things you still didn't know" segment of GameSpot. And also the floating platform where you get the Master Cycle and the last divine beast that comes with it.

I'm dissappointed that you didn't attempt to locate where on the overworld that the Trial of the Sword is. I'm 99% sure it's somewhere far out of bounds because there is no loading screen for it. That must mean that it's in the same world as the overworld so it must be out of bounds somewhere. Perhaps go the Trial of the Sword and then move the camera out of bounds to see if you can find the main overworld. Then see what it looks like from when you in the overworld instead.
