We've a lame weanling and one that's coughing more than she should. Other than that it's just feeding and bedding here at the moment. Apart from the odd bit of research with stuff like bale grazing (of all things!)

I'd throw a round feeder over the bale in the field,have a weanling similar, lungs under pressure will take minding. Enjoy the Saturday video s,with a cup of tea after my dinner, just aswell it's not any longer or I'd have the packet of biscuits ate,keep up the good work.

Had the same problem with a bullock lame he got a cut or graze in d shed and an infection set in because of a bit of dung on the wound. 2 or 3 shots of pinstripe every 2nd day will sort it. The lung problem will sort itself out as long as you keep on top of the correct dosing try and take a dung sample from her as there is damage to lungs from getting pneumonia early on. Love d channel and your honesty about your farm.

That’s the problem with buying in weanlings. Especially if there coming from a dealer and especially if they have been left standing for long periods

Would ya consider trying the homeopathic stuff for the cough. We used to get stuff years ago, can't remember the name but it was made by some crowd in Galway, the man who used to stock us up stopped coming round and we never followed up on it. We used there mastitis and scour remedies and they were without fault, bit on the dear side but very effective and no withdrawal period. If I remember who they were ill comment back the name.

Would you recommend the outdoor grazing in winter or is it too hard on the soil? I know cattle are happier and thrive better but is it too much of a trade off?
@sullivansfarm Жыл бұрын
We only out-winter on fodder rape, and then the field is reseeded in Spring. I wouldn’t graze them on grass outside in winter

If you gave the weanling coughing, an injection of Dectomax for lungworm and alamycin or tullissan to stop her getting parasitic pneumonia . I lost a weanling with it this year and they go down quickly with it

The heifer coughing might have IBR. I'm plagued with it. I'm going to have to vaccinate mine. Ask your vet, and see what he/she thinks.
