You might want to consider getting a UHF CB for your van as well. Most Camper vans reside on ch18 and then you have ch40 for highway driving. Most states have repeaters on ch1-8 and ch41-48. It's also handy when you don't have cell coverage for calling for assistance on ch5 (national emergency channel) just a suggestion 😉

Yep. I have a portable CB in the van that I take on hikes. Has a 5km range.
