The current Rosies have a removable section for the AC wiring from the E-Panel making it a lot easier to wire..

Midnight has a new all in one inverter coming out, let us know when you get them in, they seem to be the way to go. Although you can't beat a Rosie. Excellent video by the way.

Yes, we are very excited for that. This video was filmed about 2 months ago, before the AIO was announced...otherwise we may have held off and gone that route!

Good video. Man that cabinet is nice

Hello. Is it possible to mount the inverter and some chargers on the back of the rack so you can read/adjust the settings? To do so, I was thinking about placing a wood + cement board on the back wall, just above two or three battery slots. The “problem” will be how to attach that new support to the cabinet. Any idea? Thanks for your input.

How does everything stay cool in the cabinet?

I use your 48v forklift bulb trick for charging inverter transformers.

That cabinet is super nice. I'm trying to figure out the use case here. If i understand, to run the well for 12 hours in the past you needed to run the generator 12 hours. Now 3 hours of battery, 3 hours of generator, 3 batt, 3 gen to get 12 hours. On every 3 hour mark you have to go and open/close the cabinet and start/start the generator manually? Maybe you are only running it 15min a day or something so it lasts a long time between charges? If so slap a panel and a charge controller on there.

Well pumps often have pressure switches so that they start/stop as demand for water comes, as compared to a storage tank + booster pump. The pump may only run in 3-5 minutes at a time. That makes powering them from a generator wildly impractical.

@@CurrentConnected got it, thanks for the clarification! Makes perfect sense. And the inverter can invert without the cabinet open? It only needs the cabinet open for cooling when charging from the generator?

Kind of ended suddenly. You didn't show me what i wanted to see which was the batterys at full charge and then them running the pump.

Great video. Does the Rosie automatically call for generator power?
@CurrentConnected7 ай бұрын
It can, however, this generator is not (yet) setup for two-wire start. At the top of the hill, we have a PLC control cabinet that interfaces with the generator to start it for the off-grid system. I'll be working on moving the hardware into a cabinet on the generator in the future so that it can accept a two-wire input. That would make this totally autonomous - just use water and check fuel levels every now-and-again.

Ok a off-grid solar system should be used for more than just a water well pump. This is way too costly a use case for just running the well system and overkill. Most home well pump systems are 1/2hp to maybe 2hp depending on depth and demand. I currently have a Eg4 6kw inverter and two eg4 batteries for 10kwh storage that runs my home backup. A system of this size is more than enough to run a well, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, window unit and any lights and outlets in a home. The only reason someone would be using a solar system solely for a water well off-grid would be a farm or livestock need. Because if you had a system of this size it would be crazy to not utilize it for many purposes otherwise. The intent of a solar system for off-grid backup is to make it worth the money spent on the system. The best way to do that is to use it as much as possible to offset the cost unlike a generator.

The Rosie is available worldwide, its a simple software change between 60hz and 50hz if you require it.
