The cost on this stuff is nuts. BUT....of youbhave a way to pay for it even a loan...and if you size it out to cover your utilities...set the term up to current utility payments and folks would be surprised how fast the return actually is.

I look at it like this....I am going to be paying someone something every month for heating, cooling and electricity, might as well be paying the mortgage company and have something to show for it. Besides....doesnt have to be a 20 year line of credit. Make it 10 or 15. We have been programmed wrong. We don't bat an eye buying a vehicle for 40 or 50 grand only to be worn out and worth 20% if we are lucky of what we paid for it by the end of the term. Buying/building a power plant for your property appreciates over time in two ways. Both in rising energy costs and in you property value.

I just stared using the Growatt 48v 5kwh Axe battery through Signature Solar. They are the easiest battery I have ever used. They plug into each other in stacks of up to 10 high. So far so good.

This might sound strange, but I think a lot of people do not understand what a "Server Rack Battery" is and so they do not bother to click these type of very useful videos. They need to understand it is just a typical shelf (i.e. rack) that holds several batteries connected in series or parallel to provide electrical storage power. A very simple thing. Once they understand, you will get many more hits. Bty, I love my Dewalt Rack!!!

After my RV Solar system 20 years ago, I am building a house, and the solar system is part of it. Thanks for the video on the battery server. As a Chinese American, I can explain why China made these. 1. Chinese salaries are 1/4 of American salaries. 2. Raw battery material has been acquired by China worldwide for 20 years non-stop; 3. Strong government encouragement to local province to build the next new industry. 4. Green power lowers smog in large cities. 5. China wants to be independent of oil from the Middle East, which America controls. 5. Battery is a relatively low-tech industry, unlike Semiconductor AI chips. 6. Low regulation at all levels. 7. 1.4 billion people produce highly competitive engineering skills and companies. 8. Chinese culture generally likes cheap and usually competes in price (good value). 9. The Chinese government is trying to bring another 400 million people from poor to middle class, so there is a lot of cheap labor. 10. Central planning produces a long-term industrial plan, especially for infrastructure-build like the Silk Road. Like other Asians, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan follow Confucian philosophy: working hard and delaying gratification.

Watching AmbitionStrikes video with CurrentConnected, they mentioned that the SOK battery pre-charge system was not enough to handle charging a pair of Victron Quatro. They manually charged with a resistor before making the connection.

This might be a crazy idea, but what if you used these rack mounted batteries in an electric vehicle? Let's say hypothetically that you wanted 100kWh of storage with these batteries. To do that you'd need 20 of the EG4's, SOK's, Jakiper batteries. Those would also weigh quite a bit more than if you had used the 300Ah Trophy batteries. You'd also only need 7 of them to hit 100kWh of storage in an EV. EG4: 20 x 109 lbs = 2180 lbs SOK: 20 x 99.2 lbs = 1984 lbs Trophy 300Ah: 7 x 242 lbs = 1591 lbs From 2180 lbs for twenty 100Ah vs 1591 lbs for seven 300Ah, that's nearly 589 lbs! Based on the available numbers, the Trophy batteries would be the best setup for an EV. And since they're self-heating, you wouldn't need to worry about charging issues. Cooling might be a problem, but fans and heat exchange is already an established thing with all vehicles. The biggest advantage for a rack mounted system in an EV is that you could hotswap the batteries in the field. There is already a company out of Australia playing with this idea for Semi trucks but if you could drive 100kWh of distance and swap out your drained the batteries for fresh batteries, you'd be capable of driving much longer distances. Basically, envision some sort of sci-fi gas station of the future. You drop off your dead cells to be recharged with cheap renewable solar/wind/hydro energy, and you can instantly grab fresh cells to continue driving immediately. Also, why aren't there EV's with a range extending trailers? Hauling dead weight kills EV performance. But what if it wasn't dead weight? What if that trailer had 100kWh of extra storage on-board? And what if that trailer was also partially self-propelled? Most vehicles can tow 2000lbs to 1600 lbs on a trailer. An EV trailer that turned your 4x4 into a 6x6 would be insane. And not just by decreasing rolling resistance by eliminating dead weight either. That's without factoring in regenerative braking while driving downhill.

THanks again Will I always learn from you videos. I converted my 36 volt EZGO TXT to Lithium and love it, although there were some issues and it was a pain in the beginning like they sent the first pack with there charge (cheep) and they neglected to set the charge voltage to high 58 volts. So I returned the whole thisng and they resent and it was damaged. they sent a new everything it just took a month or more each time but ultimately it all works. Occasionally it just stops for a few seconds Im pretty sure it is either over current or over temp. but it clears relatively quickly. THe BMS in my pack is not the greatest Im sure there using better ones now. There was a weird problem I got a good charger to replace the Big Battery charger with a Lester Sumitt II but I could not get it to charge all the way, I worked with Lester for about a month, my hope is that they create a profile that works . My wife has a 48Volt Club Car when those batteries die I will probably replace with EG4-WP it should fit I think. If any one has advice please share I will post he same on the forum. What is your relationship with Big Battery now I know you had issues early.

Just had off grid solar done last year and due to budget constraints I had to settle for 40 kwh lead acid. Will save up to buy the next generation of batteries for when these die. Each of my current battery packs is 1700 lbs had to use an engine hoist to move them into place

You make it look SO easy!!!!!! hahaha Question: there 'might' be a few of us who want the back up battery option just for emergencies. While reading a Tesla battery site, one comment I noted was, "IF YOU NEVER USE THIS BATTERY, IT WILL LAST FOREVER. THAT would be the goal of my impending storage investment- maximum longevity. I only plan to use it during a long-term power outage. Unsure it would justify a full video presentation, but what would help us reach that goal of maximizing longevity at the cost of not using...trickle charging? Full charging? No charging and/or somehow putting the batteries in a 'hibernation phase'? Warm? Hot? Cool? Cold? Circulation? Thanks to the above video, I am seriously considering the EG4LL. My 36v Golf Cart is working great with raw cells (LF280K) and a DALY BMS (250A Smart). Takes work to make the battery bay ready to receive the pack, and some basic water proofing/shedding, but more capacity/less money if you're willing to do some work to build the box. That's a video right there if I've ever heard of one :).

I've got a small hot spring resort near me that is completely off grid, it is an absolute mess tho lol They have all old 18+ year old inverters and chargers, solar panels are a mess of mixed and matched old and new and broken panels, the batteries are giant 10+ year old lead acids that have been overcharged and boiled countless times from the generator overcharging them because of com errors in their system. Its an absolute mess. The place was bought not to long ago and I want to see about talking them into getting new server rack LiFePO4 batteries and just fix the system up in general. No one there knows how big the system is, but I believe it should be somewhere around 300kw for it to work well at least.

I would argue that Trophy Battery not having branding is HUGE selling point over other brands. It's incredibly clean, and those looking to go off grid entirely are looking to get away from corporate branding. They definitely need to work on their advertising, but not by changing the way their batteries look. They are perfect as-is.

Will, I don't know if you ever look back at comments left on older videos you've made, but if you do, I am leaving you some advice on where to locate the EG 4 battery. Make a shelf for it behind the footrest on the rear of your cart. It should fit snugly and you can drill a hole through and place rubber grommets around the hole.

You've been using networking racks, that battery would fit in a full depth rack no problem. Networking Racks are normally cheap due to only be 1 half or 3 quartets the size of a full depth rack. Normally full depth racks are 42" to 54 Deep. My 42u Full depth is a 54". it needs to be this larger to support servers that are 28" in depth Plus a PDU, and Buss bar for grounding that is normal connect to 2 different utilitys and dual in line UPSs And some times even Dual Generators. With water cooling becoming the next thing we may even see 60" deep racks.

Hi Will firstly Ive learned much from your videos so many thanks for doing them. I would like to ask some advice. I live in the UK so I realise things maybe a little different to your place. I have solar panels on the rear of my property approximately 3.7kw. It is grid tied at the moment. I would very much like to add some batteries to save some of the energy produced over night. I am unsure whether I need to change my inverter. I am an older person but very keen to learn and understand. thanks for what you do. In my view you are an excellent presenter and educationalist. I think we are only getting further far away from making things thanks to the labor cost, making McDonald's sandwiches is costing more than making technology based goods now days but there's a way around it, make them at prisons & schools for low cost. interesting on the overcurrent issues with the single battery vs multiple. I just tested a powerqueen, single 12v, 100ah, running through a Roarbatt 2000watt inverter, on a ryobi circular saw, and a Rigid Table saw. Both showed mid 300's inrush, but both worked fine. I was surprised, and the circular saw was running at 1100 watts continuously, which is pretty close to powerqueen's 1200 watt stated limit. It's going to make for a great combo for a mobile solar generator.

Can you do an updated video? Riuxu, Orient Power, etc seem to offer competitive units. (I saw your Riuxu review & it's a tough to choose between those and the EG4 etc.) I have learned a GREAT DEAL from your channel and forums. I'm 62 & after building a beginner (600w) system to power my utility room (internet, some DC lights & ac outlets) here at home. I'm already 'off-grid' as the power company cut my power in March after a huge rate increase caught me off guard. Never again. (When they cut my power - it just meant they moved to the back of the line & solar went to the front.) Thanks for your easy to follow videos!

And now there is a 7.68KW 150v server rack battery on Amazon, and they have the same specs on a wall hanger battery for the same price. Before they sold out, they were willing to ship them up here to Alaska for free. I already have some Chins, but if I was building a new system, I would not mind getting them.

I can't speak highly enough of Current Connected and the SOK batteries. Dexter from Current Connected went out of his way and was helping me and others on the forums troubleshoot some communications issues between the SOK batteries and LV6548 inverters. It ended up having nothing to do with the batteries and was caused by buggy firmware on the inverter. Dexter is awesome and so is Current Connected. I have a smaller system so the SOK batteries made sense for me, but I'd still purchase them for a bigger system. The display is nice for troubleshooting any issues you may be having. It doesn't get used often but is nice to have when you need it.

You need to start manufacturing your own server battery racks made in the US, you are literally the best person to do it because you know them inside out and what makes a good server rack vs. what makes a bad one... get on the case

If you add some ultracapacitors to your golf cart, that should take care of the surge current and prevent the battery protection tripping.

Hi Will, what about the Seplos DIY rack battery packs? Could be a great idea for a lot of people that have already purchased the 280ah cells that have to continually monitor the packs and want to upgrade the storage system to be more professional.
