Thanks for that, I have a basic tarp tipi out in the woodland and light has been a major issue. My batteries go flat so quickly. Very innovative lighting, especially the pully, cheers.

Even though I'm not a camper by any stretch of the imagination, I'm always interested in these items for use at home. So many of these items can be used during power outages, or just to save on electricity bills at home. Thanks for the information Andy! Cheers!

I have seen this on the US channel Reality Survival, he put the lights in his garage and he puts the solar panel in the window, the big light mounted on the wall lit up a good section of the garage space, looks like a great system

That looks really neat. They might like to think about a proper bag for it which is very well insulated, it will then deal as well as possible with the cold not affecting the batteries too badly. Of course it needs to work from inside the bag for all the same reasons. All batteries hate the cold, so thermal protection for batteries is something that would be another good niche in the market for someone enterprising. Thanks for sharing this one. Be well.

The thing I like most about this, is that it has multiple charge options. In Summer, solar alone will likely be fine as more daylight hours and stronger light vs less usage due to shorter nights... HOwever having the option of pulling the cord for a minute to top up for an extra 2 hours light (even if it is on the lowest setting) means that in winter with less sunlight available to charge, you can always top it up when it starts getting dark (which will warm you up) and touch wood if you have the stamina give you enough power to shine throughout the longer nights. I do wonder though how well the battery will cope with cold winter nights in a shed or a garage...

Fantastic idea, but why the plastic pull cord? Wouldn’t a crank handle (much like the many torches on the market) be a better idea? Great video, thanks for sharing.

I would rather use Solar Lights for off-grid power, I feel like the best use for this Gravity Powered Light is to provide lighting for a bunker. This is the perfect lighting solution for like a doomsday Nuclear Bunker, where you would be stuck down deep in the ground for days or weeks on end. I figure when all of your batteries and Solar Lights go out, this Gravity Powered Light won't.
