Several long-term studies have shown that regular sauna users have a significant reduction in risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and various age-associated neurological diseases.

That said, ‘experts’ across the US have determined the health enhancing effects of saunas are not worth the small risk of people catching a cold by coming into contact with people while sauna bathing (super short sided, myopic thinking).
Anyway, these policies have inspired many people (me) to build their own backyard saunas.
Every guest we’ve had over since building this classic Finnish sauna has reported deeper sleep and has left ultra relaxed.

Hopefully over time, with videos like this, this will become a mainstream thing to do. Not everyone will jump on board but humans are diverse and we can never be perfect. You can lead a human to a sauna but you can't force them to try it.😉🤓

I do a sauna everyday. I use a hydroponic tent, 6 near infrared heat lamps, and created a meditation environment. I have seen my skin getting more collagen and tightening up. Cured my bad knee from a fall I had pain in for years. Helps me sleep. Keeps my brain sharp along with olive oil I eat daily.

And for those on a tight budget or lacking a yard etc...a few sheets of foil-faced foamboard does the trick. Score lengthwise down center to bend, tape together with metal tape into vertical hexagonal tube, use 120 degree drywall bead for extra strength. Slice off top 2 feet for roof and floor. One edge untaped is the door. Add in a seat and your far infra devices of choice on a switched powerstrip and maybe a nice 250 watt UVb reptile bulb as well and for under $200 or so you are good to go. Plus its portable. Can be done in under 30 minutes too.

Inspirational video, beautiful sauna and setting! I’d invest in a ladle and bucket as was mentioned in other comments. The benefit being that the ladle allows you to portion out water to control the intensity of löyly - half scoop, full scoop, etc. because the effect isn’t instant, knowing what amount of löyly a scoop produces makes for a comfortable sauna experience, in my Finnish opinion :)

It's SO funny to see someone put a sauna up where piles of Finns and Estonians used to live. The National Nordic Museum's sauna was hauled offsite from maybe 1-2 miles from this. Glad you started from the bottom -- there will be some discussion from other sauna-builders. We just had a memorial (albeit online) for a MAJOR sauna-builder for decades in the Puget Sound: who, to be sure, built the Finnish Room at the 'old' museum'. I notice you're not talking about code much, and you're not talking about the smoke stack, or siting. To be sure, maybe not so many options on siting, for you. Or a dunk tank, in the absence of a walk to the lake or a stream or river. (Pity!!) Sticking an outdoor shower enclosure near is a fabulous thing, putting a bib for one instead of using a hose is a bit, but if you have to have a permit, why not? Just made the point about venting on a Quora post this past week -- will be looking for your next video drop. AND -- I am NOT telling where I've been taking a public sauna for the last year. Finns are quiet like that....

Not trying to be critical, this looks like an awesome built, but you can build a sauna far simpler. Saunas don't need insulation, they don't need moisture barriers; in fact, these things can work against their longevity. Leave airgaps to enable the wood to dry out after use and simply rely on the wood to provide insulation, and your sauna will never rot or develop mould. In Finland and other Nordic countries, saunas are frequently just simple wooden shacks with a slatted floor and a large stove.
