Need to add the 6 cylinder D350 diesel into the next video. Shame it’s not available in the USA 😉

Justin, Ralf. Thanks for all the time u have spent chatting me up en route to a hopeful defender purchase. Justin summed it up, “and after that we have learned absolutely nothing!” I live them both. Sigh 😢

2 years into enjoying my 2022 Defender 110 TReK Edition (#24/70) I have sometimes wished for bigger tires (32"), higher lift (1.5"), and better off-roading skills - but never have I needed more power or torque than the 4-cylinder P300 provides for my fully loaded Defender on any trail, nor would I trade my 18" steelies for the V8 or 6-cylinder engine.
@Lucky8

Thanks for your comment, and congratulations on your Trek! I hear and respect what you're saying. The P300 definitely gets the job done; I’ve been on the trails with many of them over the last few years, but you can tell they're pushing hard on that pedal. On the other hand, the 18-inch wheels are a great trade-off and a nice option without needing a caliper swap. I think I'm just too spoiled after driving so many miles in the P400 and P500..

In the end, isn’t it all about torque, line, tires and driver skill? Or just hit that easy button? You guys are Rock Stars!

I currently have a 2021 Disco Sport, and the 2.0L Petrol has been absolutely solid. I too, am kinda meh on the MHEV system. The 48v battery and the Electric supercharger running on that. I would choose the white defender in the 110 size.

To counter the overly torquey throttle in the V8, could you try installing a Pedal Commander and adjust the initial tip in to be less aggressive? @lucky8 Off-Road

Hey quick question at 8:23 I see the ARB hydraulic jack. Quick question how do you safety use with the defender as there is no place to secure the pad?
@Lucky8
@Lucky8 Ай бұрын
We use it on the rock sliders
@HughSmith

@@Lucky8 Thanks, I think there an opportunity to create a set of sliders with a dedicated slot for the pad.
@Lucky8
@Lucky8 Ай бұрын
I don't see the need for it. On our Proud Rhinos sliders, you can stick the jack underneath any portion of the slider and lift it up including the tubes.

Really great video Justin Your Defender has EAS What about a Llams device to allow you more control over the suspension height IE - raised, but not at full height, so that u retain better ride quality Thoughts ??
@Lucky8
@Lucky8 Ай бұрын
I'm not a fan of the Lamb's device. The bags can only inflate so much before the car becomes undrivable. With our lift rods and our SYA kit, the car rides soft, as shown in the video. Plus it is still usable at off-road height. Anything more makes it too bouncy, like a pogo stick.

Hope this comes across as positive criticism. But less talking and more footage of the two vehicles going over the same obstacles would have been way more interesting. The only take away from this video is the V8 is more powerful…. Like we didn’t know that already. How did they compare conquering the terrain? Which lifted wheels the most or highest? Did any rub the ground or high centre? Which used the traction control more….

Thanks for the comment. We completed our opening film and drive cycle, but another group used the trail and had a failure that took almost three hours. Unfortunately, we ran out of time and could only film the outside portions. We chose Twister to highlight cars going over the flexible cross-axle obstacles, so it's disappointing we couldn't capture that.

Since your social media crew over on Instagram love talking trash about the Grenadier. How about you take a standard l663, your mod l663 and a Grenadier trialmaster with eibach spring lift and 33.

Just for the record it's not my crew that's talking trash about the car. It's me I can't stand the look of it. It hurts my head. It doesn't know what vehicle it's trying to copy more. It's a G wagon want be . No, it's a Defender wana be. No it's FJ want be. At best it's a modern day Santana - Justin

I respect that. Owning a classic defender and going into the new defender there's a stark difference. I prefer the Kia soul reference.
