There are a couple of different models of instantaneous water heater’s on the market. This specific water heater is designed just to pump water from a reservoir. I guess you could say it’s designed for more of a camping situation. I’ve seen a couple out there that are designed to connect to your water supply but at this time I couldn’t recommend any of them. just now watched your portable outdoor shower "Boss" from mr heater video. Question.. does the water shut off? does the shower head have a shut off? I am thinking putting this next to a shower stall at camp. Would set a 5 gallon bucket of water next to it. This looks like it runs full time though. was hoping you could only call for water as needed to conserve the water. so you could get wet, turn off water. lather up. turn water on again and rinse. So, a 5 gallon bucket of water would easily be enough for a camp shower. if it ran full time, I would think 5 gallons would not last long enough.

It doesn’t have an in-line shut off on the waterline, however, I have a shelf next to my shower and I just reach over and turn off the switch on the heater. It’s pretty simple and really doesn’t require any extra effort. There are other models that do have an in-line shut off on the waterline You would have to do a little research. I’ve heard good and bad things about them that’s why I chose this model. Good luck

I wish i had seen this last week. It was on sale for Amazon Prime for $163! I decided to pay $100 more for the Coleman one because the Mr Heater had so many bad reviews. People said the water never got hot. You are right that all battery dependent devices have to be charged while being stored. This is the pain of owning these types of items.

how many min does it give you off 5 gallons, also how many green bottles, so if you took a 15 min-20 shower would 5 gallons last that and one green bottle, if not how many of both. also if there is no electric it goes down then what? can it be powered by solar or is htere a solar device same thing?

The shower can be used with electric however it comes with a rechargeable built-in battery in case you don’t have electric. We recharge ours before we go to the cabin and it easily last all week and we strictly run off the battery only.I’ve never really timed our showers but it is an endless source of hot water, so on days where I feel I need a half an hour or more to shower I just simply use a bigger water source. Right now we have the heater connected to a bigger propane source but if I remember correctly a green bottle would almost last a week. Sorry I can’t be more specific I don’t work for the company. I just shared the video because we are so pleased with the results we are getting from the heater. I’m sure if you want on Mr. heater‘s website they could supply you with better information.Good luck in your research, thank you so much for watching

I like it but it's out of my budget. Another option is, if you already have a gas stove, heat up the water in a big soup pan to the desired temperature, about 40C will be nice, then use a powered shower which is USB charged. I got one as a present so that was free. You'll probably need a big pan - maybe 20 litres - then you've got the same elements of the portable outdoor shower. You won't get instant hot water but you'll probably save a lot of money. I love your dog.

When I bought my little off grid cabin it came with a Honda 2000 generator and a Yodi shower hot water heater, a propane stove that looks like a woodstove and mower, all kinds of tools and was furnished. The God I works the same but uses D cell batteries. I'm still gonna look into this one tho. Better to get spare everything.

We keep it in the cabin with us but if we are to leave it is very easy to drain down. Just tilt it sideways and it drains out quickly.

The battery in this particular unit is set up to be charged by 120 V so you would need to plug it into your inverter. I usually only have to charge it about once a month. Thanks for watching

Like this guy said it takes a very strong commitment to live off grid.. the majority of people cannot make that commitment... That's why they fail and have problems... I will look into this water heater for sure...I spend a lot of time on the road in my RV which is already set up...but I do like to take very long showers so maybe this is a good alternative... As my RV only has a 6 gallon heater which you can take about a 15 minute shower no problem... But I do find this interesting... And anything to make life cheaper is a benefit..

This would be a great backup heater for your RV. I’m usually not a big advocate for instantaneous water heaters but this little heater really does produce. My wife and kids are thrilled that they can take long showers at the end of the day. The one thing I would recommend though, is make sure you keep the battery charged year around. If you neglect the battery it could cause problems.

This particular model is designed for camping or off grid use. Mr. heater doesn’t have any information available as to how many gallons of continuous water it uses before it needs to be recharged. From personal experience my wife and I use it for showers and we charge it once every three weeks if it needs it or not. If you are looking for a model that you can hard pipe into your house or cabin this is not the model you would want. I’m sure you could go on Mr. heater’s website and check out other models that they sell for continuous use. I hope this is the information you were looking for, thanks for watching and commenting

The lithium battery would be an awesome upgrade, great idea! I haven’t experienced my heater not heating all the way. I suppose if you have very cold water it could have only a 40° change in temperature. Our bathing water is kept at room temperature so maybe that’s why we haven’t experienced any difficulties. I suppose if you were getting your water from an ice cold source you could just circulate it back into a container for a minute until it warms up a little. I hope this helps, good luck!

I haven’t heard about them discontinuing the spout. I know when I purchased mine I had to pay a little extra and do a little digging to find the model with it. I think retailers get in the habit of just selling the most popular models. You might want to check on Amazon, my buddy just bought one off of Amazon.Now that we have had it for a quite a while I can honestly say it is still holding up and doing great. Just make sure you maintain the battery on a regular basis and you should be fine

Almost all the complaints usually stem from people not charging the battery on a regular basis, and yes there is a rechargeable battery in this model. Several of the people that I talked with before purchasing the unit all were happy and counseled me to do the same

Eco makes a pretty good water heater. Most of their heaters are set up for homes that have running water. I am not sure if they make a battery operated unit that has its own siphon pump. It would be worth looking into but they are also a little expensive and I am trying to do this on a poor man’s budget.

How much time would you get with a full battery before it dies out?

I couldn’t say for sure but under normal usage we charge the battery about once a month. We’ve been using it for a year now and it has been wonderful. Battery seems to last forever it is really only needed to run the pump and start the igniter. It is extremely important to charge the battery whether it needs it or not every other month. The batteries do go bad if you don’t maintain them like the manufacturer suggest. Otherwise no problem

It’s worked flawlessly for me. I bought it because it comes from a great company that stands behind their product. If you end up purchasing one just make sure you charge the battery every three months. The only bad thing I have heard about any instantaneous water heater is that the batteries die if you don’t maintain them.

Great questions! This particular water heater works off of propane only. I have been using it for two years now and it has worked flawlessly. Keep in mind we are not at the cabin full-time yet. We do have very hard water but we haven’t had any issues yet. There are several different manufacturers on the market nowadays, we just chose this one because it met our needs. This unit is not really designed to be a permanent fixture. However, they do make instantaneous water heaters designed for campers etc... The reason we like this unit is because if we want to use it while camping, we can take it outside and shower without steaming up the camper. If it’s too cold outside we simply bring it in and set it on the shelf while using it. They do have a warning not to use it inside in case if it malfunctions it could create carbon monoxide. We have extra detectors in our cabin and we have never had any problems with it being inside

I saw a video, earlier, about an 'off grid' wood heater.. it was made of clay and was outside. Had a coil, made around it and would heat up water, using convection to pull the cold water out of the tank and then heat it up. Just sayin'!

That’s a pretty cool way of heating your water. I have the same set up but with a 55 gallon drum. It works very good but it requires lots of your time. If you have lots of time on your hands that is a very rewarding way of heating your water.Up here in the north it works great in the summer but it’s not very efficient for the winter. If you choose to go that way consider what the winters are like in your area. Good luck

Are you really German, where did you come from and where do you live right now? I really like your videos. Not this particular model, However, I believe they make a model that does. You may want to search “Mr. heater tankless water heaters“. Either way they are awesome for camping or living off the grid

It's all about the batteries in solar so if you don't have the aptitude for electronics don't get solar, it'll be a waste of money. When you learn solar electronics you'll know exactly what he's talking about and MORE. Do not discharge batteries past 50-60% period or you'll shorten the life dramatically. This is what we tell people about solar, the panels are nothing to be concerned about but the battery maintenance is the system so batteries, controller, inverter are key, I won't get into BMS and the other parts.

No, there really isn’t a way to regulate the water flow at the end of the nozzle without swapping the showerhead.
