My new thoroughbreds are RIDICULOUS! We've had a great week of training, with lot of new experiences. Indy is starting to learn that not all ground is flat and that horses are actually all terrain vehicles. Henri has HUGE potential. As I encourage his sense of curiosity, his playful personality is really starting to shine through. I have recently discovered this channel. I think you are the link between William Fox Pitt and a Cowboy that the horse world needed. What a range of knowledge in one so young. A true horse-maker. Such a sympathetic rider on the flat.

Lovely looking fellow! This why the paddock that my mares and foals go into after they are born and doing ok, has a dam as the only water source with a bank and a couple of small rolling hills. They naturally become confident with water and balanced with hills and small creeks and dips ☺

I had a 17.3 thick-barrelled TB ex-racer that was a rearer, biter and spooker. I would love to have seen how you would have handled him. I will admit it was scary. The biting went away - he had a lot of left-side physical issues though. Apple of my eye depicted actually in my icon here...

I board my horse at Greenridge Stables which is very close to North Atlanta Equestrian! I had some friends who went to your clinic. Wish I could have gone... but my horse was lame at the time. Anyway, it was great to see how you handled this! I have a young ottb myself who does pretty much the exact same thing as the first horse you took through the obstacles... when she is scared she panics and shuts down. I am working on keeping her moving forward and redirecting her attention. Glad I'm not the only one and that we will get past it eventually! :)

Great video, I love that you go through and explain everything you're doing. Most other channels(at least that I see)don't explain anything or don't show themselves working with horses to the extent that you do(usually in fear that they'll get hated on). Lots of people have different opinions in the equine world, but generally, if you're being kind and respectful to the horse, you really don't get much of that hate. You can clearly see that in this video.

This reminds me of working with my rescued greyhound. She'd never seen steps, windows, trees, tiled floors, etc. The tiled floors really got her! Every time I took her to my poor sister's house, she'd take a few wobbly steps into her house, on tiles, and then promptly poop. 😆

Darryl Bavington they are pretty similar actually. Thoroughbreds do tend to have a more flight mode. Each horse is an individual and I've had mustangs that have taken a year to just be comfortable with humans in general. It really is based on the individuality of the horse. Mustangs and thoroughbreds have incredible qualities and make them awesome to learn from.

have any tips for a horse that will not stop no matter what u do when they gallop? my ottb mare was on a trail last weekend and we had a open space that u can run them across and her mind shut off and she just took off i literally had to almost run her into a tree to stop her

work on canter to trot transitions, or an exercise I use with my OTTB is get him to do very collected canter and then do a very free extended canter and move between till eventually I feel I have control over his speed and pace. Master your slowing and stopping your horse at the trot and canter before moving on to a full gallop :)

Elisa I need some advice. I ride my aunties pony cause I can't currently afford to have my own. And she's scared of every mounting block. And also when I try to put a saddle on her she tried to bite and kick me.

When was the last time a vet had her back checked? Maybe the saddle doesn't fit (anymore) and causes her pain? This could then also be an extention to the mounting blocks as she knows that's where people normally get on her back.

MegaNatasha13 sounds like she is in some type of pain. I would look into treating the tummy for ulcers. That is also the rust thing I do.

Wallace Eventing her back was looked at last year and there wasn't anything wrong. My aunties pony was abused before we got her. I'll talk to my aunt and see what we can do. My aunt doesn't have a lot of money and neither do I. My aunties pony is living out all year round and I'm the only one that rides her now, my aunt had a slipped disk in her back so she's unable to ride her anymore.

MegaNatasha13 get some slippery elm bark (30$ on Amazon) give 2teaspons with 2ounces of aloe Vera juice(7$ from Walmart) I also use a product called USHIELD from choiceofchampions which really does WORK. But maybe try the slippery/aloe first if it's a $$ issue.

Are you going bit less or still metal mouth??? Bit less is best. You seem to love your horse you should be with out that rubber BIT. Better yet you try wearing it and you might just understand how he would relax. Remember his mouth has probably been abused by jockeys all his LIFE

She's a professional. She knows what she's doing. That, and she often trains these ottbs in eventing. Which you're not allowed to go bitless for.
